A TIME TO CELEBRATE

The time for my first blog post has arrived and I am thrilled to be able to share it with you all. I would like to send a big thank you to Jo for allowing me to share my love of scrap booking with everyone as part of the design team. The challenge for April / May was fun to create and involved three main things.

1) must contain a quote as a title or be visible on your layout
2) incorporate ribbon / twine
3) flowers of any description must be a feature on your layout

Jo sent me a wonderful collection designed by Authentique entitled " CELEBRATE ". It is wonderful collection of papers and has a vibrant color palate. I was excited to use it as I had never scrapped with this companies collections before. My layout is as follows :

The materials I used are all available at the scrapbook it store and you should go over and check them out. I used :  4 papers from the celebrate collection ( rejoice, party, enjoyment and laughter )
                    celebrate elements
kaisercraft mini paper blooms ( black )
kaisercraft paper blooms ( coconut )
Green tara Mini flowers ( jo has great selection available )
                    Brads And buttons
                    Red twine
                    Black satin ribbon
Kaisercard ( tomato and sea foam colors )
                    coredinations foundations whit canvas texture

I used  a few techniques including layering of the papers, distressing, fussy cutting and hand made flowers. Distressing is one of my favorite techniques and it worked well with this collection. I also love all things floral on my pages so the flowers I was able to work with were great.

I thought the quote I chose worked really well with my photo it was from the celebrate sticker sheet.

I also created a  mothers day card with the collection and we were to use a quote to embellish the card. I again went down the floral path and I found this collection a new color scheme from the traditional mothers day colors. It gave a great result and I think my mum will love it for mothers day.

I hope my creations will be a stimulus for your own creativity and I look forward to seeing your entries in this challenge. Until next time enjoy creating and Happy Scrapping

Cheers, Andrew

  3. WOW! An absolutely beautiful LO and card Andrew. I just ♥ your distressing and your clusters of flowers! The banners are gorgeous and the bows are a sweet little touch. The papers are really suited to that gorgeous photo. Your card is surely going to pull at your Mum's heart strings on Mother's Day!! Great job :0)
