Friendship Always

Welcome everyone to the last day of June. Over the weekend here in North East Victoria we have had plenty of rain, wind and cold weather. Just perfect weather for sitting inside by the fire and scrapbooking!

I would have to say that this months challenge I have loved. I have loved the challenge - how good is it to acknowledge friends and let them know how awesome they are - and I have loved playing with the papers that Jo sent me. All month I have kept thinking…how lucky am I???

Brenda set us the challenge this month, you still have until midnight tonight to get your entries in. So, the challenge is to scrap a photo of a friend. You must have the word friend in the title and journalling that is more than a few words.

I have continued on with this challenge for the first part of my post. I have created a layout of a photo that I have wanted to scrapbook for ages but have never done it. It is a photo of my best friend and I when we got all dressed up and went to the Crichton Medal (Essendon Best and Fairest) last year. Isn’t it amazing what you do for best friends??? We had an amazing night…even if I was just there as the photographer when the Essendon players were around…and got some great photos together.

Here is what I have come up with…

I have used the gorgeous kit that Jo sent me which contained the ‘Heidi Swapp ~ Dreamy’ papers, Kraft card, cotton, twine, a Heidi Swapp Dreamy kraft tag, Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers in white, Heidi Swapp Colour Magic Pressed Paper Frame, Kaisercard ~ Island and a Heidi Swapp acetate word ‘Always.’

You may notice that I have created a little feature in the background. To do this I used the ‘Heidi Swapp 12 x 12 Borders Stencil’ and some Kaisercraft ink. I started with a grey ink and softly swiped over the stencil. I repeated this down the card stock. I then used a white liquid chalk to define the shape of the template.

Then I traced the stencil onto some Kaisercard and some of the Heidi Swapp paper and cut it out. I cut the same shape on the Kraft card making sure to keep the card stock in one piece. Then I slid the Kaisercard and the paper up behind the Kraft card so that all you could see was a small amount of the colour.

Here are a couple of close ups….

I sprayed the background with a small amount of Heidi Swapp Colourshine ~ Blush.

I used a quote for my journalling…
"Your friendship is a special gift generously given, happily accepted and deeply appreciated."

Now for my next project. Something a little bit different.
Part of my kit from Jo was the ‘Heidi Swapp ~ Memory Files.’ I wasn’t sure initially how I wanted to use them. In the end, I decided that I wanted to have a place to store memories. Whether that was tickets to something special, letters, cards etc.

I have created a layout using 3 of the memory files where I can do this collecting. Each memory file acts as a little pocket. I just used foam tape on the edges where the files fold up to help create the pocket.

Check it out…

Again, I have used the ‘Heidi Swapp ~ Dreamy’ papers.

I cut a tag from the Kaisercard ~ Island and stamped it with a Kaiser clear stamp. I used half of a ‘Heidi Swapp Magic Pressed Paper Frame’ sprayed it with Teal Heidi Swapp Colourshine and then lightened the colour using a white gelato.

I have added some twine, wash tape and some Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers.

Anyway, something different that maybe you haven’t thought of doing. I hope you like it. Make sure you let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.

Make sure you get your entries in for our challenge by midnight tonight. Add your layout using the add link button on the right under June challenge.

If you love the papers that I have used this month make sure you head over to the Scrapbookit Online Store to place your order and while you are there book your place at our October Retreat.
It will be the place to be!!!!

Looking forward to seeing your creations.
