My Hero

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the September Challenge here at Scrapbookit!

September, the month we celebrate the very special males in our lives...our Dads.

I was asked by Jo to set this month's challenge so I decided to incorporate those special males in our lives.

Here is the challenge...

Create a layout/a project that includes the following:
* Masculine theme
*The words 'My Hero' included in the title
* 4 patterned papers
* Washi tape
* Twine / Ribbon
* At least 1 handmade embellishment

Here is what I have come up with for this challenge...I loved creating this layout.

To start with I might just say how much I love this photo...one I took when I first got my camera.

There are many ways that you can create a masculine themed layout. It could just be the colours that you use. I have also torn the paper rather than using just straight edges, this gives the layout a rough look, I guess.

I have used an A2Z Scraplets chipboard 'My Hero' phrase as part of my title. I have used the Slate Grey Dylusions Ink Spray to alter the colour of 'My Hero.' I have also used my Around the Block Tape Writer to finish off the title..."My Dad My Hero."

My four patterned papers come from the gorgeous collection by
Authentique: Harmony.
I have used the back of the "Creation" page as the base on top of the Kraft cardstock. I have inked the cardstock with the Tim Holtz Distress Ink ~ 'Walnut Stain.'
I have then used the "Abundance",  "Song" and the "Nature" pages layered to create the layout. Thank goodness for double sided papers!! The 'Nature' page (red),  I have sprayed with the Postbox Red Dylusions Ink Spray.

The washi tape that I have used is from my own collection.
However, did you know that Jo has just received a delivery of all new washi tapes??? Why not head over to the online store or our Facebook page to check them out?

I have used just a regular twine for this layout. I have tied a little to the 'My Hero' words and a little to the Scrap FX - Hash Border. How cool is that hash border??

I have also used some twine to create my handmade embellishment. I cut some little footprints from cardstock and I have then attached some twine to the cardstock to create my two little footprint embellishments...they are probably more like thongs.

Now, as you know, Jo is always very generous with what she sends us as her Design Team. So I have a few little other bits and pieces as part of my layout. I have used the Scrap FX Tyre Track Stencil. I have coloured the texture paste with the Slate Grey Dylusions Ink Spray prior to adding the texture paste to the layout.

I have also added a cute little Kaisercraft pocket envelope from the Mix and Match range, slightly sprayed with Slate Grey Dylusions Ink Spray. Inside this envelope I have used a Kaisercraft tag from the same range. This has my journalling on it.

Finally, my Dad always says...why do they call it scrapbooking when you don't use scraps??? As I left the living area to start creating this layout my Dad handed me an everyday serviette from the dinner table and said 'I challenge you to use this in your layout' and I did! I sprayed part of it with the Dylusions Slate Grey Ink Spray and the second part with the Postbox Red Dylusions Ink Spray. I have popped these between the layered papers...just for you Dad!

So there you go...the new challenge for September. All products are available (minus a few exceptions) from Jo in store at Scrapbookit. Head over to
to get your hands on some of these great products.

I hope that this layout has inspired you to get working on your entry for this month's challenge...remember there is a prize pack up for grabs!!

Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
