Magnolia Lane...

Welcome to my first post for March!
I'm not sure about you but the continual 40° days are starting to wear thin on me. However, as I write this there is a cool breeze and a change in the weather appearing! Thank goodness.

What a sensational challenge we have this month at Scrapbookit.
A gorgeous mood board that our Guest Designer Delsie has created to inspire us.
For those of you that know me well...whilst I was inspired I was also panicking a little on the inside...

Here is the mood board...

How will this inspire you? What parts will you take and create with?
Don't forget the word 'Cherish'

Here is the layout that I have created...
A layout of my Nan and I.
This photo was one of the first my hubby put on his Instagram account...not the best quality photo but it is one special photo.

Unfortunately the colours haven't photographed well.

This month I have been using the paper collection by Ultimate Crafts - Magnolia Lane. A very pretty pack with lots of pinks and purples.

To create the background I used Transparent Gesso over the white cardstock so that my sprays didn't seep into the cardstock but also to provide some strength to the cardstock as I was going to be adding lots of media.

I used Kaiser Mists - Candy, White, Winter Grey;
Tattered Angels - Glimmer Mist - Denim Blue; Dylusions Paint - White Linen and Colourbox - Fluid Chalk Inkpad -Rouge to create the background.
I then used the Kaisercraft Damask Quarters template and some moulding paste. I used some Versamark ink and some of the Colourbox - Fluid Chalk Inkpad -Rouge to rub over the top of the dry moulding paste.

I have used small strips and parts of the Magnolia Lane paper to create my layout. I have distress inked the edges using Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain.

I have fussy cut some of the flower arrangements from the paper to add to my layout.

As you can see above I have used the gorgeous Dusty Attic - Heart Attack stencil. Prior to embossing I again used the moulding paste, Tattered Angels Denim Blue Glimmer Mist and the Colourbox - Fluid Chalk Inkpad -Rouge to stencil the hearts. I then embossed them with Metallic Melts - Gold Nugget Embossing Powder.

I have used the gorgeous Dusty Attic - Dusty in Bloom - Bridal Veil flowers and have handcut out some gorgeous butterflies from the Magnolia Lane paper.
I have added the gorgeous heart shaped pearl embellies and some lace. Aren't they just gorgeous?

I used some black alphas for the word Cherish but toned the black down with white paint.

The final thing I wanted to share with you is the Kaisercraft - Wood Flourish - Frame that I have included on my layout. It is framing one of the quotes from the Magnolia Lane paper collection.

There was a lot of trial and experiment with the frame. It started with paint, then I added moulding paste, then ink, spray, some more paint, some more ink and then finally some Metallic Melts - Gold Nugget Embossing Powder.

Well, I hope that something has inspired you to get creating!
Don't forget to enter your project into the March challenge...all entries are due by March 30th and can be linked to the blog or emailed to Joanne - joanne@scrapbookit.com.au

To all of the lovely ladies heading on the Scrapbookit Retreat - hope you have an awesome weekend - so wish I could be there with you! Have a great time.

Until next time,
Melx
