I Love Authentique

Well, hello to you all.

I would like to start by welcoming all our new DT members - Janene, Kerry, Rebecca and Andrew. It is so exciting to have you all on board and I look forward to our time together.....and I am of course looking forward to seeing all of your gorgeous creations.

I can't begin to tell you all how thrilled I was when Jo asked me to come back on the DT as Team Leader....not sure whether I will be good at it but was excited to give it a shot! Thanks heaps Jo for having confidence in me.

Anyway, enough of that. The new challenge is a great one...

Layout - Create a layout that includes a quote (that is visible - could be your title, journalling), flowers (which must be a focus on your layout) and some ribbon/twine.

Here is my take on the challenge this month.

I was so lucky to get my hands on the Authentique Genuine Collection. These papers are just beautiful. I have used some of the patterned papers from this collection for this layout.

My quote comes from Isadora James.
"A sister is a gift to the heart,
a friend to the spirit,
a golden thread in the meaning of life."

I have used twine in different ways on my layout....bows, knots and little sprigs between the flowers.
I have mixed up the flowers a little....most of them are handmade but there are a few of the Kaisercraft Mini Blooms in Iceberg and White.

Here is a close up....

(Update: Thanks Liz Hocking for letting me know about the spelling error on my layout....you will be happy to know that it is all fixed. I won't retake the photos....sorry, just not with it at the moment!)

I have used Thickers for my title. They are the Delight Fabric Alphabet Thickers. Aren't they just great! Have I ever told you that I love Thickers!!!!

You know what I love the most about the Authentique Collection......the Element and Detail Sticker sheets. Not only are there the upper and lower case alphas but also individual words/ quotes and lots of lovely elements to add to your layout.
You really don't need much more than the collection to create something lovely.

I have also used the Authentique Genuine Collection for my card challenge this month.
Wasn't Janene's card just gorgeous?

Card - Create a Mother's Day card that includes a quote

Here is my take on the card challenge this month.

My quote comes from an unknown source. It says...
"A mother is someone who can take the place of all others
but whose place no one else can take"

When creating my card I decided that I wanted to show you that you don't have to print the text (on a laptop) for your cards or have fancy alphas to say what you want to say.
As a mum, I think anything that is hand written is so special.

I am trying to be really good at the moment and not keep too many scraps. So, I am trying very hard to use the left overs from layouts to create a card or two. Hence, why my card is using similar papers to my layout. Don't know how long this will last.....:0)

Have you fallen in love with Authentique? Well, I know that Jo has a few of their collections in store. So why not pop on over to the Scrapbookit Online Store and grab yourself some.

Well, that is all from me.
Please remember to pop in over the next few days/weeks to the blog and leave our brand new design team a comment and some love.

Oh yeah - don't forget to get your entries in to Jo for a chance to win!

Have a great day!

  5. Gorgeous work Mel, I love your handmade flowers, they are just perfect. And your handwriting, eeek puts my left handed horrid scribble to shame (can safely say you will not ever see my hand writing on any layouts). Fabulous card too, so cute.
