Sunset Dream

Hello ~ Mel here!
Hasn't it been a wonderful month at Scrapbookit?
The girls have done some wonderful creating ~ great job team.
If you haven't seen all of this months posts why don't you go back and have a look at them...there is some awesome inspiration.
In the middle of it all was the wonderful weekend away we had for the Scrapbookit Retreat. A fantastic weekend!

Whilst away on the weekend I got busy with my pack.
As I said in my last post the papers from 'The Scrap Cake' that I received are awesome.
For this second post I have used a colour combination that I rarely attempt and I have used a photo of a sunset with no human subject - so this made it a huge challenge for me.

The photo was taken at Lake Hume, Wymah - we were camping for the Easter weekend. Isn't it just gorgeous?
I didn't really want to detract from this photo so the addition of patterned paper and embellishments was kept to a minimum.

My quote....
"It is almost impossible to watch a sunset and not dream" Bern Williams.

The next project I have to share with you is another card using Janene's sketch from this month.
Again I have used 'The Scrap Cake' paper collection.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed looking at my projects. Don't forget that all of the products I have used are available at Scrapbookit! Head to the online store by clicking on this link Store to check them out.
And don't forget to get cracking and send in your entries for this month....you only have until the 14th September to have your entries in.....why wouldn't you want to win??

Happy Scrapping,

The Scrap Cake

Hi Everyone,

Have you heard of 'The Scrap Cake'?
Well, I was very lucky to receive some of the papers from 'The Scrap Cake' to use for this months challenge. They are such gorgeous papers, if you haven't seen them you are really missing out.

The lovely Rebecca set our challenge this month. The challenge is to use:

Hexagons
Twine and a
Quote

I had heaps of fun with this challenge...thanks Bec!
I will apologise now though for the photo of my layout....for some reason my card stock has decided to curl so photographing the layout was a real challenge in itself.

Here is my layout 'Already One'

To stamp my hexagons onto the Kaisercard I created my own template/mask. I just used a piece of scrap paper. Once I had drawn on my hexagons I used my stanley knife to cut them out.
I used some 'Artiste - Acrylic Paint' to print these images.

My quote is:
" How amazing you're already one.
What a precious little person you've become"
(Author Unknown)

Materials:
Paper - Sweet Childhood ~The Scrap Cake; Cardstock - Kaisercard 'White' and Coredinations 'Rose Embroidery'; pearl brads; bakers twine; Artiste - Acrylic Paint - 'Blush Pink'; Flower; doily; Thickers - Sunrise - Natural Chipboard Letter Stickers; Versamark Ink - Petal Pink; Tattered Angels - Glimmer mist - Pearl; Dimensional Magic; AdornIt Alpha Stickers; Steel Grey Zig Writer.

The lovely Janene has set a wonderful sketch for our card challenge this month.

I have again used the Sweet Childhood papers from 'The Scrap cake.' Isn't it wonderful when one set of papers can be used for both masculine and feminine pages and cards.
I have created a very simple, quick and easy card....the longest part was the fussy cutting of the boy and his kite.

Well, I hope you have been inspired to enter our challenge this month. Make sure you get your entries emailed into Joanne by the 14th September. Well, I am off to scrap till my heart's content at the Scrapbookit Retreat....yay it is finally here!

Hope you have a great weekend and you get the opportunity to get a little crafty!
