New Look Design Team

Good Morning

Well here we are today to announce the new look design team for Scrapbookit. I thank everyone who sent an application in, I wish I could have you all on the team but alas my business is not quiet ready for that. So this is what we are going with for the next six months.

Please Welcome

LYNN GOOD

My name is Lynn Good and I live just outside Burnie, Tasmania with my fantastic husband & two teenage/adult boys on small acreage – although I am about to become an “empty nester” at the end of the year!   10 years ago, not long after moving to Tasmania, I was invited to a Creative Memories Scrapbooking home party. I had no idea what this involved so went to keep a friend happy. That night my friend showed me her beautiful scrapbooks and from that moment on I have been addicted and broke!
My style does change depending on the photo that I am scrapping but I do love to use paint, gesso, stencils, chipboard, bling and flowers – (thank goodness for girlfriends as this is a little hard when I have boys and nephews sometimes!!)
My inspiration can come from very small things – a new product or technique I want to try, a colour combination I see in a book, my local scrapbooking shop, other people’s blogs, pinterest or the sketch/mood board from on line challenges.  I often start with an idea but find at the end of the project the idea has only taken a portion of the page and I have gone in another direction.

Tania Ridgwell

Hi my name is Tania Ridgwell and I live in the North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide with my partner of 12 years and our beautiful 8 year old daughter Chloe.  My Paper Crafting journey started soon after she was born and she is my never ending source of  inspiration.  I am totally addicted to all things craft and love to create anything from layouts, cards and OTP Projects.

I enjoy trying new techniques and though I don't have any one specific style I would have to say the majority of my work is "feminine".  I love to incorporate a little mixed media into my work along with chipboard, blooms and bling.

I would also like to welcome back

Brenda Caldow

And staying on as Design Team Leader is
Mel Field.

I am really looking forward to working with these girls and sharing their great work that I know they will be doing.

Now for the month of October we are having a 'Sketch Challenge' from pagemaps, you can create a project from this sketch and send in your entries to joanne@scrapbookit.com.au by the 30th of October. Have fun with it and be in the running for a great prize pack.

Just a reminder that we have our Scrapbooking Retreat this month on the 24th-26th, I can always make room for more people, so if you thing you know someone who would love to join in call me on 0407058604.

Have a great month of crafting.

Jo.

Friendship Always

Welcome everyone to the last day of June. Over the weekend here in North East Victoria we have had plenty of rain, wind and cold weather. Just perfect weather for sitting inside by the fire and scrapbooking!

I would have to say that this months challenge I have loved. I have loved the challenge - how good is it to acknowledge friends and let them know how awesome they are - and I have loved playing with the papers that Jo sent me. All month I have kept thinking…how lucky am I???

Brenda set us the challenge this month, you still have until midnight tonight to get your entries in. So, the challenge is to scrap a photo of a friend. You must have the word friend in the title and journalling that is more than a few words.

I have continued on with this challenge for the first part of my post. I have created a layout of a photo that I have wanted to scrapbook for ages but have never done it. It is a photo of my best friend and I when we got all dressed up and went to the Crichton Medal (Essendon Best and Fairest) last year. Isn’t it amazing what you do for best friends??? We had an amazing night…even if I was just there as the photographer when the Essendon players were around…and got some great photos together.

Here is what I have come up with…

I have used the gorgeous kit that Jo sent me which contained the ‘Heidi Swapp ~ Dreamy’ papers, Kraft card, cotton, twine, a Heidi Swapp Dreamy kraft tag, Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers in white, Heidi Swapp Colour Magic Pressed Paper Frame, Kaisercard ~ Island and a Heidi Swapp acetate word ‘Always.’

You may notice that I have created a little feature in the background. To do this I used the ‘Heidi Swapp 12 x 12 Borders Stencil’ and some Kaisercraft ink. I started with a grey ink and softly swiped over the stencil. I repeated this down the card stock. I then used a white liquid chalk to define the shape of the template.

Then I traced the stencil onto some Kaisercard and some of the Heidi Swapp paper and cut it out. I cut the same shape on the Kraft card making sure to keep the card stock in one piece. Then I slid the Kaisercard and the paper up behind the Kraft card so that all you could see was a small amount of the colour.

Here are a couple of close ups….

I sprayed the background with a small amount of Heidi Swapp Colourshine ~ Blush.

I used a quote for my journalling…
"Your friendship is a special gift generously given, happily accepted and deeply appreciated."

Now for my next project. Something a little bit different.
Part of my kit from Jo was the ‘Heidi Swapp ~ Memory Files.’ I wasn’t sure initially how I wanted to use them. In the end, I decided that I wanted to have a place to store memories. Whether that was tickets to something special, letters, cards etc.

I have created a layout using 3 of the memory files where I can do this collecting. Each memory file acts as a little pocket. I just used foam tape on the edges where the files fold up to help create the pocket.

Check it out…

Again, I have used the ‘Heidi Swapp ~ Dreamy’ papers.

I cut a tag from the Kaisercard ~ Island and stamped it with a Kaiser clear stamp. I used half of a ‘Heidi Swapp Magic Pressed Paper Frame’ sprayed it with Teal Heidi Swapp Colourshine and then lightened the colour using a white gelato.

I have added some twine, wash tape and some Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers.

Anyway, something different that maybe you haven’t thought of doing. I hope you like it. Make sure you let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.

Make sure you get your entries in for our challenge by midnight tonight. Add your layout using the add link button on the right under June challenge.

If you love the papers that I have used this month make sure you head over to the Scrapbookit Online Store to place your order and while you are there book your place at our October Retreat.
It will be the place to be!!!!

Looking forward to seeing your creations.

A Friend is...

"A friend is someone who reaches for your hand but touches your heart."

Welcome everyone to another monthly challenge.
Time really seems to be flying.

Our Design Team member, Brenda has set our challenge this month
and we are honouring our friends.

I am so blessed to have two very, very special friends and I was very excited to be able to honour them this month.

So the challenge this month is to scrap a photo of a friend. You must have the word 'friend' in the title and journalling that is more than a few words.

Here is my title...
I have used a Heidi Swapp Dreamy Kraft Tag, some of the new Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers in white and a white gel pen.

Here is the layout that I have created...

And my journalling is more than a few words... I was very excited to use this photo...my first visit to the MCG to see the Swans. Then we headed to Etihad for the Essendon match (just for Jess...what lovely friends are we?)

And another little close up...

I have used a lot of different products for this layout.

I have used the gorgeous Heidi Swapp ' Dreamy' papers. In this layout I have used the  Choose Happy, Dreams Come True,  Dreamy Dots.
The cardstock is Kaisercard 'Coconut'.

To create my background I have used my Faber Castell Gelatos, Metallic Mint & Bubble Gum and two Kaiser Clear Stamps 'Hessian' and 'Script'. I stamped them using the VersaMark Black and the Kaisercraft Grey inks. After applying the Gelatos I used my water brush to blend the colours.

I used the 'Metallic Mint' Gelato to run along the edges of the paper rather than ink. It actually worked really well especially when it was smudged rather than just applied to the edges.

I have cut and used my Gelatos (Metallic Mint and Bubble Gum) to colour a Heidi Swapp Colour Magic Pressed Paper Frame. I have then tucked it in behind some of the papers.

I have backed my photo on Kaisercard 'Island' cardstock.

Some string and a cluster of Bella! Floral Self Adhesive flowers finished off my layout.

All of these gorgeous product are available from Scrapbookit.
Jo has recently moved the shop and I can't wait to go and check it out. If you can't get there why not jump online and order it from the online store???

Have you heard that there is another Scrapbookit Retreat later this year?
Make sure you book your spot for a great weekend.

I hope that you have picked up one little tip from my post today...

Have a great week and happy Scrapping,
Mel x
