A Hero in all of Us

Welcome everyone to my second post this month!
I am so excited by all of the wonderful work our DT have been sharing. It is so nice when you have an idea for a challenge to see the results...and such exceptional ones at that! Thank you to our amazing DT!

Have you heard that Jo is having a DT call at the moment and that you only have till the end of the week to get your applications in. For all of the details check out the right hand side column of this blog or our Facebook page. You don't want to miss this opportunity.

This months challenge is focussed on our heroes.
Here are the challenge requirements:

Masculine theme
The words "My Hero" included in the title
4 patterned papers
Washi Tape
Twine or Ribbon
At least 1 handmade embellishment

For this layout, I have used some of the requirements, not all of them.I have used a photo of my Dad and his eldest grandson and my son.
Here is what I have come up with...

I have used the gorgeous Authentique "Harmony" collection, Kaisercard cardstock - Wheat, Amy Tangerine - Thickers - Goodness, Authentique - "Curiosity" Elements letters, washi tape - We R Memory Keepers, doily, Kaisercraft tag, Scrap FX Tyre Track Stencil, twine, iTop tool and brad, Versa Colour Ink - Split Pea; Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Kaisercraft Gum Leaf ink, Faber Castell Gelatos, Darkroom Door Background Stamp.
I got most of these gorgeous products from Jo, so make sure if you want to get your hands on them...contact Jo, she is always more than happy to help you out!

The doily you can see I have coloured with my Faber Castell Gelatos. I then used my water pen to blend the colour.

I love the quote that I have used...it is so true...
" Grandchildren are a grandparents link to the future,
and grandparents are the child's link to the past." (Unknown)

I didn't use the 'My Hero' in the title instead 'A Hero.'
How great are these Amy Tangerine Thickers? I used my Tim Holtz Distress Inks on them to match the layout and so that the hatching on the letters stands out.

In this photo you can see my little brad that I have made using my iTop tool and some of the Authentique papers. You can also see the Kaisercraft tags that I have altered. One I altered simply with the Scrap FX stencil and distress ink. The other I coloured with my Faber Castell Gelatos. Both of them I have stamped using a Darkroom Door background stamp.

I am really looking forward to seeing your creations for this challenge. Make sure you have a go and honour those males in your life. Saying that though there is nothing in the requirements to state that you have to do that...only use 'My Hero' in the title. Why not pick a friend, a pet, a sporting personality, a musician or band?? It is totally up to you.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading my post and checking out what I have been up to. I really loved creating this layout and using this paper collection - thanks Jo!
Happy Scrapping!
