A little more Barber Shoppe!

Hi Everyone,

Feels like our weather has gone backwards...we've had a week of glorious weather after all the rain but the rain is back! Not to mention the cold!

Well, I guess a positive of the weather being this way is that it is great crafting weather.

I'm here today to share with you a few more projects using the Kaisercraft collection 'Barber Shoppe'

In July, Jo and I headed down to the 'Retailers Days at Kaisercraft'
We did a couple of classes there and one of them was using the 'Barber Shoppe' collection. This is one of their newer collections, only released to the public this month.

As you would know I love creating masculine pages...so this collection is right up my alley!

In both of my projects today I am celebrating some of the most important men in my life. Just like the last post that I did...it is perfect timing... created just in time to honour those men for Father's Day!

My first project celebrates my hubby! He is so genuine, unique, supportive and caring and I am very, very thankful that I met him (all those years ago) and have him in my life. He is also an exceptional Dad to our son. Don't know where I would be and who I would be without him.
Here is my first project...

All products used are Kaisercraft. One of the new templates that they have brought out this month is rather trendy...it is another quarters one called "Grunge"

I have also used it in my second project.

All of the little embellishments are either from the collectables pack or from the sticker sheet. The cogs are from the wooden flourish packs.

My second project is celebrating my Dad. I am truly blessed and thankful that I have him in my life. He is definitely one of a kind and I can't thank him enough for all of the precious moments and memories that he has been a part of.

I'd just like to point out the specialty paper that we used for the background. It is an embossed like paper and is my favourite part of this layout.

Again, all of the products that I have used are from Kaisercraft.

Loved creating these layouts. Thanks to Melissa Kennedy for the inspiration.

Make sure you grab these products from Jo at Scrapbookit and getting creating to honour and celebrate the men in your lives this Father's Day.

Don't forget that we have our 'Free to be You' challenge running until the end of the month. A great opportunity to show case how clever you are. Entries need to be emailed to Jo or linked to the blog by August 30.

Hope you have time to get crafty this week.

Remember this Moment

Morning Everyone!

Thank you for stopping in here at Scrapbookit.

We have a great little challenge happening this month...worth a look at, why not give it a go!
Judy has designed it and there are a few elements that you need to include in your project.

So here is the challenge...
You must follow the sketch,  fussy cut and use one or all of the following on your project - buttons, stamping or ribbon.

I have been playing with some of the gorgeous Prima papers this month. They are just beautiful and very easy to use.
Here is my layout...

I have (as always) been a little naughty and have changed a little bit of the sketch around. I have turned the whole sketch around and have moved the title from the bottom corner where the circle is to the top, right hand corner.

I started with a piece of kraft card which I lightly sprayed with Kaiser Mist - Coffee. I also flicked some Kaiser mist onto the card by undoing the lid and using the little tube that leads to the spray nozzle.

I have then cut pieces from...
* Prima Marketing - Vintage Emporium - Opera Seria paper
* Prima Marketing - Vintage Emporium - Verona paper
* Prima Marketing - Vintage Emporium - Florence paper
As well as the...
* Prima Marketing - Seashore - Seashell paper

After adhering these papers to the cardstock I used the Kaisercraft Clear Stamp - Background Script and some brown ink to roughly stamp around the layout.

As gorgeous as these papers are I was unable to do any fussy cutting from them to fulfil my challenge requirements so I had to be a little creative with my thinking.

I created my embellishment cluster using some different products and some fussy cutting.
I have used the Kaisercraft - Flora Quarters templates. With the flower template I used with some Colour Blast - Singin' the Blues Colour Paste. I lightened it a little using some of the Snow White Colour Paste. After the paste had dried I chose a few of the flowers to fussy cut. I inked the edges and gave them a light spray with the Coffee - Kaiser Mist.

I used one of the other Flora Quarters template for the leaves. Instead of using Colour Paste I decided to mix a small amount of Coffee - Kaiser Mist into some Gel Medium. Again, once dried I fussy cut the leaves.

I have finished off my layout with some twine around the bottom of my photo and some words and some cute hearts for my title from the Kaisercraft Clear Stickers - Script Words.

Have you got your spot secured at our Spring Retreat?

Hope to see you there!

Morning Everyone,

Thanks for popping in today to Scrapbookit to see what we have been up to.

I'm here today to share another post with you using the sensational Cocoa Vanilla 'Totally Rad' paper collection.

I haven't followed the challenge requirements for this one but am here to remind you to make sure you get your challenge entries in. You only have a few days left! We have a sensational challenge that the lovely Jane Garner has designed for us. It is one to warm you up on these freezing days! All you need to do is follow the following elements in your project.

Element #1: Use the word SUMMER on your project.
Element #2: Use TEXTURE and TAGS
Element #3: Use the colour YELLOW
Element #4: Use the SKETCH below

Now for my project!

I have created a very masculine, messy layout!
Here it is...

I have used as I said the gorgeous 'Totally Rad' paper collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. Isn't that 'Say What' paper in the background awesome?

I have added some texture and "mess" using gesso, one of the Quarters Templates by Kaisercraft, Faber Castell Gelatos - Mango Mango and Earl Grey, Kaiser Mist - Denim, Kaiser Ink - Black, IndigoBlu - Ink Splats stamp and Colour Blast - Colour Embossing Powder in the gorgeous Dusty Charcoal.

I have used the embossing powder on the WOW chipboard frame. It is very cool. Check out the close ups below.

I have also used the Cocoa Vanilla Studios - Wood Veneers and Flair Buttons. I have embossed the wood veneers with the embossing powder as well.

I have also used this collection to create two little cards.

I decided to leave the 'Say What' card with a blank place to put a number. I'll add the appropriate age number when required.
How cute are the Cocoa Vanilla Acetate Stars?

Well I hope you have found some sort of inspiration from my post today. All of these gorgeous products can be found in store at Scrapbookit or Jo can order them in as well.

Don't forget the challenge and be sure to book your spot for our Spring Retreat by contacting Jo ASAP - seats are filling fast!

Have a great week!

I'M IN HEAVEN!!!

Hey Everyone,

Happy Long Weekend!
I hope that whatever you are up to is lots of fun!

Yes, yes...I am in heaven!!!!
Not necessarily because it is a long weekend, that helps, BUT this Totally Rad Paper Collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio is my ultimate...I have had so much fun working with it.
When sending me design team packs Jo sure knows how to keep me happy!! Thanks Jo!

So, this month, the lovely Jane Garner has set our challenge. I just love the challenge she has put together. So many elements to incorporate into your own take on the challenge.

Element #1: Use the word SUMMER on your layout
Element #2: Use TEXTURE and TAGS
Element #3: Use the colour YELLOW
Element #4: Use the SKETCH

Here is my take on the challenge...

I started first of all by creating my background.

I have used Kaisercraft - Coconut cardstock and randomly sprayed some Kaiser Mist - Yellow.

I have added my texture using Texture Paste and The Crafters Workshop (TCW) - Mini Organic Matter stencil. Once dry, I added some more of the Kaiser Mist - Yellow to those areas.

I have randomly brushed some of the gorgeous Prima - Finnabair - Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint - Metallic Light Patina over the texture.
This paint is absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately the photos don't show the nice subtle little shimmer it has. Even better...it dries quickly and appears to go a long way!

Here is a close up of the texture...

I added some stamping using the IndigoBlu - Ink Splats stamp set and also the Kaisercraft - Hessian Clear Stamp. I used two different inks to do this stamping.
The hessian I wanted to be subtle so I used the VersaMark Black Ink. The ink splats I wanted to be more defined so I used the Archival Ink.

I have also splattered some of the Kaiser Mist - Orange around to connect both the photo and the orange patterned paper that I have used in the layout.

Here is a close up...

There are some absolutely sensational embellishments that you can get to coordinate with this paper range. I have used the gorgeous Acetate Stars, the Wood Veneer pieces and also the Woodies. They truly make embellishing pages easy!

Well I hope that you have enjoyed reading about my take on Jane's great challenge (Well done, Jane!)
If you feel the need to purchase these products so that you can also be in heaven with me...make sure you head over to the Scrapbookit Online Store or send Jo an email and she will pop them in the post for you!

While I am here...don't forget to book in for our October Retreat weekend! I hear spots are disappearing fast. It is always a fun weekend. Details are on Jo's last blog post!

Well, that is all from me!
Be sure to enjoy your long weekend whatever it is that you are doing!

Live Life Happy Everyday

Morning Everyone!

I'm here to share with you two quick projects that I have been fiddling around with.

If I have learnt anything over the last fortnight it is definitely to...
"Live Life Happy Everyday"
We just never know what is around the corner do we?

Here is my first project...

I have used a tin from the yummy Rondoletti - Cafe Style Cream Wafer treats. I love projects when I have been able to upcycle. For those of you who have never heard of upcycling it is when you reuse items and create a better product.

I have clustered some different Kaiser Blooms together here. The larger flower I used a paint brush and some Kaiser Mist to paint my flower the colour I required it.

Here are some close ups of the papers and corner features I have created.

The products I have used to create and upcycle the tin were:

Simple Stories - Vintage Bliss paper collection; Kaisercraft Black Ink; KaiserMists - Turquoise, Winter Grey, Charcoal and Candy ; Kaiser Paper Blooms - White & Hot Pink; ; SP Washi Tape; Colour Blast - Colour Paste - Envy and Steel ; doily and Mod Podge.

I have also created a card using the IndigoBlu - Flutterby Stamp. After stamping the butterfly with Archival Ink I sprayed the butterfly with Kaiser Mist - Candy and Colour Bloom - Cotton Candy.

To create this card I used some tissue paper and Mod Podge to begin with. I have then layered some sprays - Kaiser Mists - Winter Grey, Charcoal and Candy. I also layered in some Colour Paste - Steel and Gelatos.
I have stamped the 'You Are Beautiful Inside & Out' from the Kaisercraft Sea Breeze Stamp Collection.
A quick and simple card to create!

I hope that you have found something today to inspire you to want to create this weekend.
Why don't you join in our monthly challenge?

This month all you need to do is create a project that has some reference to things with wings.
Here is a little prompt to help you with your ideas...

You have until May 30 to get your entry linked into the blog side panel or emailed to Jo.

Remember to Live Life Happy Everyday!

Keep Calm and Smile On

Good morning Everyone,

Happy International Scrapbooking Day!
I'm here to share with you on this lovely Saturday morning!
I have heard that there is a significant weather front heading our way, please stay safe everyone.

This month Jo has set our challenge...'Things with wings"
Your project, whether it is a layout, card or OTP is to have some reference to things with wings.
Here is a little prompt that might give you some ideas...

My layout features the gorgeous Simple Stories collection, Vintage Bliss. It is such a sweet collection and could be used for so many projects from cards, to Project Life style pages, OTP projects and even for your journal.

Here is what I have come up with...

In my challenge kit I was also lucky enough to receive the gorgeous IndigoBlu - Flutterby stamp which solved the things with wings requirement for this project.
Whilst putting this layout together I decided that I didn't want the stamp to be too dominant so I actually used an older Kaisercraft Black Ink to do my stamping.
I love how it is a softer stamped image...really compliments the paper collection.

I have cut some of the butterflies from the paper collection and have used one of them as a stencil to create my cardstock butterfly. I have used Scrap Dots so that they pop a little off the page.

How gorgeous is that frame around the photo? I just love how it turned out.
It is a WOW Chipboard frame. I have sprayed it with KaiserMist - Winter Grey & a slight touch of Turquoise and have then used the gorgeous Colour Blast - Embossing Powder - Snow White.
OMG...I love the gorgeous shimmer and glitter BUT it was a messy process - who cares when it turns out like that I say...it is all part of the fun! (I apologise if it is hard to see in the photo)
I only used one layer of embossing powder as I wanted it to be a fine shimmer...you could always use several layers of embossing powder to give a more striking effect.

I must say that I am really loving Colour Blast products at the moment, they are amazing! If you haven't had a chance to give them a go make sure you grab some from Scrapbookit - you will love them!

Products used in my project...
Simple Stories - Vintage Bliss paper collection; Kaisercraft Black Ink; Kaisercard - Sea Breeze, White and Elephant Ears; KaiserMists - Turquoise and Winter Grey; Kaiser Paper Blooms - White; SP Washi Tape; IndigoBlu - Flutterby stamp; Colour Blast - Embossing Powder - Snow White; doily; WOW Chipboard Frame, Embossed Cardstock

Well that is all from me today. I hope that you have found something in my project to inspire your next project, which I am hoping will be your entry to our challenge.
Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Before I go, I want to wish all of the Mothers reading this post a very Happy Mother's Day! I hope you all have a wonderful day and are spoilt by those that love you.

You Are Here 2

Hi Everyone,

It is Mel back again to share with you another project that I have completed for this months challenge.

Don't forget to get your entry in!
Tania has inspired us with a great sketch to use.

All you need to do now is...create a project (layout, canvas, cards) using the sketch and incorporate your favourite place into the project.

Here is my layout...

and a few close ups...

Can you believe that I have used exactly the same paper collection as my last post?
Simple Stories - You Are Here is the collection.
I just love collections that give you the opportunity to create a variety of different layouts.

For this layout I have also used some white gesso to dull the brightness of the background. I also faintly sprayed the background using the Kaiser Mist - Charcoal.

I have created a feature using the Deep Water Colour Blast Paste and have also added some Prima Mica Flakes - Frosted for a touch of texture.

I have used some rolled twine, black wire and Dusty Attic - Fish Net for my embellishments.
I have used the Cocoa Vanilla Free Spirit alphabet stickers for my title.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with for this challenge.
Don't forget to get that entry in.
