I believe…

Good morning everyone and thanks for stopping by here at Scrapbookit!
So glad that you could join us this month.

Jane has set a fantastic challenge this month…whilst I was quite daunted at the beginning I seemed to cover all of the aspects easily in the end. Thanks heaps to Jane for challenging my thinking and providing a challenge that moves beyond the normal challenges that we are all used to.

The aspects of the challenge are as follows:

1. Use the mood board as inspiration

Mood Board

Prompts

2. Use a photo of yourself or at least a photo with you in it
3. Include a mixed media element

4. Include one of the prompts

Jo has sent me a gorgeous Simple Stories collection to work with this month. It is the gorgeous recent collection ‘Faith’

Simple Stories - Faith

When I first received it I started imagining layouts using the trillions of photos that I had of Baptisms and other religious sacraments over the years. I was so excited! It is very rare to find gorgeous, religious themed papers.

Here is what I have created…

This layout uses photos from my son’s Confirmation Day and I obviously appear in two of the three photos (one of this month's requirements).

A great thing about this paper collection is that there are so many journalling cards and other elements that you can use to create your projects. My background paper is the  ‘Charity’ page however, the flowers in the bottom corner did not suit the theme of my layout. So, I used some of the 4x6 Horizontal Elements to create a ‘cover up’ I suppose. There were two Faith, Hope and Love and Believe that suited the background perfectly.

For this challenge, the Mood Board is to provide inspiration. I have done this in a few ways…some a little far fetched. Firstly, I have used some of the pastel colours found in this board (well, as best as I could). I used a tag in my layout which is featured on the board. I have used the feathers as a representation of the feathers on the ends of the sticks and finally I included the quote ‘ Focus on what is important to You’ - this quote is a little bit of my life motto at the moment.

My mixed media element is the use of one of the Kaisercraft Designer Templates - Grunge. Whilst this layout is not a ‘grungy’ layout, I thought that this template worked well with the cross pattern for my background. I have mixed some Gel Medium and Colour Blast Shimmer Dust - Navy to use with the template.

I then splattered some Distress Spray Stain - Tarnished Brass in the background.

I decided to use the prompt ‘I Believe…’ on my layout for two reasons. The first because the quote from the mood board is definitely something that I believe in and secondly to relate to the religious aspect of the layout.
For the letter ‘i’ I used a Doodlebug - Loopy Lou Cardstock Sticker from my collection. I altered the colour of this to suit the layout using the VersaMark Chalk Ink - Night Sky. I found that I had to spray a small amount of hairspray over this to set the colour.

I have added some cute little Kaisercraft - Wooden Flourishes - Heart Buttons to the layout, which I have painted with the Distress Spray Stain - Tarnished Brass. I have included one on the journalling tag. I made this tag using some Mosaic Moments - Navy cardstock and a 3x4 Journalling Card Element, which I have journaled on.

I have finished the layout with a few heart stickers and other sticker elements from the Faith Collection. I have used some Dimensional Magic on the hearts to highlight them.

Thank you Jane for a great challenge. Make sure you show Jane how much you love her challenge by joining in this month. You may also have the chance of winning a pack from Scrapbookit.

I Will Always Love You

Morning Everyone,

Well, I hope that the Easter Bunny found you all and you enjoyed your Easter!

I am here again to remind you about our April monthly challenge and to share with you another layout that I have created with the Kaisercraft P.S. I Love You collection.

Have you started creating your challenge entry? Entries close on the 30th of April...you still have plenty of time if you haven't.

Remember this month is all about the double layout! A great way to scrap a sequence of photos! There is a sketch from PageMaps to follow.
You also need to include texture, stamping and some flowers (in any form you wish - be creative!).

You can enter your challenge via our blog using the InLinkz linkup, via our Facebook page or you can email it to Joanne at joanne@scrapbookit.com.au

I can't wait to see what you create.

When Jo first gave me the P.S. I Love You Collection I felt very overwhelmed. If you know me, ideas for pinks and all things girly when scrapbooking don't particularly come naturally.
I was glad though to be able to use these papers to highlight some of my wedding photos and other photos of Jason and I.

Whilst I yet again haven't followed the requirements of the April Challenge, I have loved playing around with some newer products and some colours that I don't necessarily always feel comfortable using...so definitely getting out of my comfort zone!

Here is what I have created...

We had these photos taken whilst in Disney World, Florida in September 2015.

I started this layout with a blank canvas (White Cardstock) and added some of the new Tim Holtz - Distress Oxide Inks blending both Worn Lipstick and Iced Spruce. I love these inks and love what you can do with them. It is very hard to see in any of the photos but I then used a baby wipe and my Kaiser Mini Template - Rough Grid. The baby wipe took away the ink where I rubbed it and left a paler, and in some places, a bleached image from the template.

I then used some Impasto Gel Medium through the Kaiser Mini Template - Rough Grid which gives a clear see through appearance over the paler/bleached template.

I splattered some of the Kaiser Mist - Candy and the Prima Colour Bloom - Cotton Candy around the page.

I stamped with the Kaiser Clear Stamp - Flutter using the Gray Flannel Memento Ink.

Then using Art Alchemy - Acrylic Paint - Opal Magic Aqua - Rose, the Viva Precious Metal Colour - Pink, some Acrylic Paint - Black and the edge of my palette knife I added some lines.

I have once again been a little minimalistic in my use of papers and have stuck to using mainly the P.S. I Love You Collectables.
I added the title Love using the word from the sticker sheet. I needed to ink this with the Gray Flannel Memento Ink.

Well, whilst out of my comfort zone, I love how this layout turned out and mainly loved using lots of new products and colours. All of these are available at Scrapbookit!

Have you heard about our upcoming retreat? May 19-21 in Bright!
A weekend full of fun, plenty of laughs, great company, awesome food and plenty of scrapbooking.
We would love you to come. For more details head to the Online Store.

Thanks again for popping by...would love to hear what you think of my layout!
Be sure to pop back over the next few days to see what other awesome projects Jo and Jane have been creating!

December is here!!

Good Morning everyone and welcome to our last challenge for the year.

I know it's a busy time of the year but hey sometimes we just need to take some 'Me' time and spend some time creating. What better way than to join our challenge and you could be our lucky winner of a great prize pack.

This month I have set a fun challenge:
Your project must include the minimum of the following, 5 squares, 4 Buttons, 3 Flowers 2 Arrows and 1 Circle.

I have been creating with the Creative Concepts 'Wild and Free' range and I couldn't go past these photo's of my Grandaughters at their visit to the Zoo.

To create my backgroud I have used a Kaiser stencil and mixed some Colour Crush 'Basil' with some gel medium to create my vine leaves. My title is a Heidi Swapp 'Minc' word, and my arrows are a Scrap FX chipboard pc. My buttons I made and added some twine for the jungle feel. The flowers are a mixture of Green Tara and Kaisercraft.

Here is another simpler layout I did using my Curio machine for cutting my title and a Kaisercraft Die for the vines.

I hope you come join us for this months challenge, entries can be uploaded in the side bar or yo can email me a picture joanne@scrapbookit.com.au. Entries will close on December 30th.

Happy Scrapping

Jo

Have you checked out Back to Basics?

Hi Everyone,

I'm here to share my final post with you using the Kaisercraft range 'Back to Basics'

As I think I have said before this range is an awesome range...talk about versatility, easy to use, works with anything and can be as plain or as detailed as you like.
I have truly LOVED working with this range this month.
I seriously am sooo lucky to work alongside Jo at Scrapbookit and have the opportunity to play with these amazing products. Thanks Jo!

As I said in one of my posts I was going to attempt to show you this month how you can use this range and achieve different colour collections and results.

The layout I have created this time around is again a little different to what you have seen so far this month. It features the black papers of the Back to Basics collection.

I have used Kaiser Mists, Prima Colour Bloom Spray and Heidi Swapp's Colour Shine to create my background.
I have also used stamps, embossing powder, gel medium and inks.

I just love this photo of my boy. It was the day of his confirmation...he definitely is the master of face pulling!

This photo shows the gorgeous Heidi Swapp word sticker 'All time favourite'.  I have outlined it with a black pen to make it pop from the page.

Another close up of some of the background features.

I used a tag in my layout to hide (to some extent) my journalling.

Materials:
Cardstock: Kaisercraft - White; Paper: Kaisercraft - Back to Basics; Sprays: Kaiser Mists - Denim, Prima Colour Bloom - Vintage Coal and Cobalt; Heidi Swapp Colour Shine - Navy; Impasto Gel Medium; Embossing Powder: Metallic Melts - Silver; Template: Kaisercraft - Quarters; Heidi Swapp Sticker Word; Stamps: Kaisercraft - Sketchy and Script; Ink: Versamark Watermark Stamp and Archival Ink - Black

So, have you got your entry in for this months challenge???

Remember it is as easy as...T T T
