Your Christening

Good Morning and welcome back to Scrapbookit!

I can't believe that it is almost the end of the month. That means that it is nearly time to close this month's challenge.
Have you got your entry in yet???
Only 5 days left to get your entry in!

I am here today to share with you some more projects that I have created with the gorgeous Simple Stories Collection ~ Faith.

I think I may have mentioned in the last post that I love this collection. There are so many great things about it. One of them being that a good part of the pack is made up of gorgeous journalling cards. They are in a variety of sizes and are made up with d of words, quotes and images.

What better use for them than to create some cards...

And some more..

These cards have very little too them and don't take long to put together thanks to the gorgeous papers and sticker elements!
I know these cards would not suit every need or every person but there are many people in my life that would appreciate one of these cards with a meaningful quote or word for their circumstance.

I have also been busy creating another layout using this collection.

Here is what I came up with...

Your Christening
Whilst I love this collection, I had to be very careful in my selection of papers and colours to suit a boy and a christening theme!
The quote that I have used I think is just perfect!

I also took a leap into creating something a little challenging for me... that is using lots of very busy papers. I admire Jane, my DT friend, and the way that she always seems to create stunning layouts that are very busy and filled with so much to look at. Thanks for inspiring me this month (and every month) Jane.

I added to the background page of this layout some stamping, splatters and texture.

I have used the very cool IndigoBlu 'Ink Splats' stamp with some VersaMagic and Memento Inks from my kit ~ Turquoise Gem, Grey Flannel and Night Sky

I have added some Colour Blast Snow White Colour Paste through the Scrap FX Circle Border template. Once it was dry I rubbed on some Creative Expressions - Metallic Gilding Wax - Golden Light to highlight the edges slightly.

I splattered some Navy ink around the background.

I used a star template and some Colour Blast Colour Paste - Bling to create some star embellishments for the corner of my layout.

The patterned paper under the photo was a little too busy for my liking against the rest of the papers so I have dulled it down using a thin layer of Gesso. This helps to focus the eye on the quote and photo and also allows me to journal without my writing blending into the background.

I have used a Scrap FX Wordlet - 'Christening,' for my title and have inked it with VersaMagic - Night Sky Ink. I then added a layer of Dimensional Magic to give it a nice finish.

I have finished my layout using a variety of words and images from the sticker element sheet and I have edged the layout with some more of the Gilding Wax - Golden Light.
I am rather chuffed with my layout and how it came together...even better, it was created in our caravan on our holiday!!!
Hope you have enjoyed checking out my layout!
Look forward to seeing your entry before the 30th!

August challenge.

Good Morning everyone,
Thanks for dropping by, today I'm sharing my take on the August challenge which is all about Masculine, Mists and Memories.
This month I am using the new range from Kaisercraft 'A Touch of Gold' which has a xmas theme with a gold twist, but as usual I have used it for a completely different theme.

I have added lots of texture, stamps, stencils and splatter. I used black gesso for my zigzag stencil, different Kaisercraft texture stamps and plenty of mists.Kaisercraft, Prima Colour sprays and Heidi Swapp colour shine. I have framed my photo with a Scrap FX chipboard piece, lots of collectables, Thickers and Fancypants wooden word.

Lots of Messy Fun, with lumps and bumps of texture.

Now to announce July's challenge winner!!!! Thanks to all who took the time to enter but there can only be one winner and that is
Tania Ridgwell.

Stalk the postie Tania as a parcel is on the way.

Don't forget to get working on your entry for this month and get them in by the 30th August.

Happy Scrapping
Stay Warm

Have you checked out Back to Basics?

Hi Everyone,

I'm here to share my final post with you using the Kaisercraft range 'Back to Basics'

As I think I have said before this range is an awesome range...talk about versatility, easy to use, works with anything and can be as plain or as detailed as you like.
I have truly LOVED working with this range this month.
I seriously am sooo lucky to work alongside Jo at Scrapbookit and have the opportunity to play with these amazing products. Thanks Jo!

As I said in one of my posts I was going to attempt to show you this month how you can use this range and achieve different colour collections and results.

The layout I have created this time around is again a little different to what you have seen so far this month. It features the black papers of the Back to Basics collection.

I have used Kaiser Mists, Prima Colour Bloom Spray and Heidi Swapp's Colour Shine to create my background.
I have also used stamps, embossing powder, gel medium and inks.

I just love this photo of my boy. It was the day of his confirmation...he definitely is the master of face pulling!

This photo shows the gorgeous Heidi Swapp word sticker 'All time favourite'.  I have outlined it with a black pen to make it pop from the page.

Another close up of some of the background features.

I used a tag in my layout to hide (to some extent) my journalling.

Materials:
Cardstock: Kaisercraft - White; Paper: Kaisercraft - Back to Basics; Sprays: Kaiser Mists - Denim, Prima Colour Bloom - Vintage Coal and Cobalt; Heidi Swapp Colour Shine - Navy; Impasto Gel Medium; Embossing Powder: Metallic Melts - Silver; Template: Kaisercraft - Quarters; Heidi Swapp Sticker Word; Stamps: Kaisercraft - Sketchy and Script; Ink: Versamark Watermark Stamp and Archival Ink - Black

So, have you got your entry in for this months challenge???

Remember it is as easy as...T T T
Tags (as many as you like)
Today (as your title)

Mixed Media

Morning Everyone!

What a fantastic challenge we have running here at Scrapbookit during November.

Set by the lovely Tania, our challenge this month is to dabble in the world of Mixed Media.
A true challenge for me but might I say I had a lot of fun doing it.

To participate in this months challenge you are required to create a Mixed Media project that includes the following...
STENCIL
SPRAYS
CHIPBOARD

Here is what I have come up with...

For this project I have done something a little different.
I have completed my layout on a piece of 12x12" ply board. So instead of a piece of cardstock or patterned paper I have used the ply board as the base to my layout.

I have converted the ply board by creating my own background.

I started by painting the ply board with Gesso. I initially did a wash of Gesso and then I did a layer of thicker Gesso. The reason I did this was so that I could save my product...yes I know pedantic...but by doing an initial wash the ply board is sucking up the wash moisture and not the layer of Gesso...hence using less Gesso in the end.

I then sprayed the ply board randomly with Prima Colour Bloom Spray Mist in Cobalt Blue and Vintage Coal.

I randomly stamped using Kaisercraft clear background stamps 'Sketchy', 'Hexagons' and Staz On ink in 'Jet Black' and 'Midnight Blue' around the ply board.

My next step was to mix some Lindy Stamp Gang Magicals - Bachelor Button Blue with Moulding Paste. Once I had the colour I wanted I used my Crafter's Workshop 6x6 Stencil - Mini Rustic Paint and randomly spread the newly coloured moulding paste over the stencil.

Then I chose to use my Quarters Stencil by Kaisercraft and Texture Paste for some added dimensions in the top right corner and the base of the layout. I carefully brushed over these when they were dry with Staz-On ink - Jet Black.

I have used the new Kaisercraft collection 'Off the Wall' including the Superstar Specialty Page, the film strip and other embellishments from the Collectables pack and a piece of patterned paper from the paper pad. This paper is such a gorgeous male inspired collection.

I used the gorgeous Tinby Designs Metallic Melts 'First Light' embossing powder on the large black star and I have also used it on the Scrap FX 'Hash Bits' chipboard embellishment.

Here are a few close ups...

I hope that today you have been inspired to give this challenge a shot. I had lots of fun completing this project, thank you Tania for a great challenge.

I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful entries in the gallery.

Please don't forget that all products can be found at the Scrapbookit Store.
Enjoy your week!
