I believe…

Good morning everyone and thanks for stopping by here at Scrapbookit!
So glad that you could join us this month.

Jane has set a fantastic challenge this month…whilst I was quite daunted at the beginning I seemed to cover all of the aspects easily in the end. Thanks heaps to Jane for challenging my thinking and providing a challenge that moves beyond the normal challenges that we are all used to.

The aspects of the challenge are as follows:

1. Use the mood board as inspiration

Mood Board

Prompts

2. Use a photo of yourself or at least a photo with you in it
3. Include a mixed media element

4. Include one of the prompts

Jo has sent me a gorgeous Simple Stories collection to work with this month. It is the gorgeous recent collection ‘Faith’

Simple Stories - Faith

When I first received it I started imagining layouts using the trillions of photos that I had of Baptisms and other religious sacraments over the years. I was so excited! It is very rare to find gorgeous, religious themed papers.

Here is what I have created…

This layout uses photos from my son’s Confirmation Day and I obviously appear in two of the three photos (one of this month's requirements).

A great thing about this paper collection is that there are so many journalling cards and other elements that you can use to create your projects. My background paper is the  ‘Charity’ page however, the flowers in the bottom corner did not suit the theme of my layout. So, I used some of the 4x6 Horizontal Elements to create a ‘cover up’ I suppose. There were two Faith, Hope and Love and Believe that suited the background perfectly.

For this challenge, the Mood Board is to provide inspiration. I have done this in a few ways…some a little far fetched. Firstly, I have used some of the pastel colours found in this board (well, as best as I could). I used a tag in my layout which is featured on the board. I have used the feathers as a representation of the feathers on the ends of the sticks and finally I included the quote ‘ Focus on what is important to You’ - this quote is a little bit of my life motto at the moment.

My mixed media element is the use of one of the Kaisercraft Designer Templates - Grunge. Whilst this layout is not a ‘grungy’ layout, I thought that this template worked well with the cross pattern for my background. I have mixed some Gel Medium and Colour Blast Shimmer Dust - Navy to use with the template.

I then splattered some Distress Spray Stain - Tarnished Brass in the background.

I decided to use the prompt ‘I Believe…’ on my layout for two reasons. The first because the quote from the mood board is definitely something that I believe in and secondly to relate to the religious aspect of the layout.
For the letter ‘i’ I used a Doodlebug - Loopy Lou Cardstock Sticker from my collection. I altered the colour of this to suit the layout using the VersaMark Chalk Ink - Night Sky. I found that I had to spray a small amount of hairspray over this to set the colour.

I have added some cute little Kaisercraft - Wooden Flourishes - Heart Buttons to the layout, which I have painted with the Distress Spray Stain - Tarnished Brass. I have included one on the journalling tag. I made this tag using some Mosaic Moments - Navy cardstock and a 3x4 Journalling Card Element, which I have journaled on.

I have finished the layout with a few heart stickers and other sticker elements from the Faith Collection. I have used some Dimensional Magic on the hearts to highlight them.

Thank you Jane for a great challenge. Make sure you show Jane how much you love her challenge by joining in this month. You may also have the chance of winning a pack from Scrapbookit.

Together Is A Beautiful Place To Be

Hello everyone!

HAPPY EASTER!
Hope the Easter Bunny finds you all tonight and leaves you lots of yummy chocolate eggs!

I am back today to remind you about the challenge we have running for this month.
The following guidelines need to be followed:

* Use the PageMaps sketch
*Add Texture
*Add Flowers
*Add Stamping

Here is the sketch...

A great challenge for those of us who love to use more than one photo for our layouts!!

I am also back today to share with you another layout that I have created with the gorgeous
P.S. I Love You collection by Kaisercraft.
It is all about love this month!
Here is what I have come up with...

It doesn't cover many of the challenge requirements but I love using this paper collection. I was also having a play with some of my new mixed media products.
When I first mixed the colour paste for the background I had no layout in mind, I was just experimenting.
I used Modelling Paste and some Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust - Velvet. After mixing them together, I smeared it around the centre of the page.

I have added some splatters using the Kaiser Mist - Shiraz.

I have then layered and added some strips of the patterned papers and used lots of the gorgeous collectables. However, I have been quite minimalistic in my use of these.
The gorgeous lace strip is from the P.S. I Love You Sticker Sheet.
Isn't it very pretty?

I have finished with some cute little sequins that I had in my collection.

I hope that you have enjoyed looking at my layout and it has inspired you to get your craft on this weekend.
If you are after any of these products make sure you visit scrapbookit.com.au or email Joanne - joanne@scrapbookit.com.au
If Jo hasn't got what you need she is always more than happy to order them for you.

I hope that you enjoy your Easter tomorrow!

Journal Page - Good Times!

Morning again everyone!

I am loving this Amy Tangerine ~ Oh Happy Life paper collection. So much so that I just can't stop using it!!!!
Today I am here to very quickly share with you another project using this gorgeous paper collection.

I am playing a little bit of catch up with my 2016 Journal Planner. But I am having fun while I do it. I have done so much more than I ever envisaged I would at the beginning of 2016...whilst I had all good intentions.
Anyway, I have used the Amy Tangerine paper to create this page in my journal planner.

I just love how bright it has turned out!!
Alongside the Amy Tangerine papers I have used lots of mixed media products to create.
The first thing that I did to my blank page was use the large circles quarter from the Kaisercraft Grunge Designer Template with some Gel Medium.

Then using the same template I used the Lipstick Colour Blast Colour Paste.

I used the Kaisercraft Bubbles 12x12 Template and the Singin the Blues Colour Blast Colour Paste randomly around the page.

Finally, I used the circle quarter from the Kaisercraft Mixed Media Designer Template with some Envy Colour Blast Colour Paste.

I made sure that between each of these layers I dried the product before continuing.

I then used some Sunflower Colour Blast Shimmer Dust over the top and then dried this off too!

I did some really random stamping using the Kaisercraft Tic Toc Clear Stamp and Archival Ink.
I finished the background off using some white and black Faber Castell Gelatos to add some dimension to my Lipstick coloured circles.

A few different papers and some inked edges and my project is complete!

Maybe you would like to submit a project similar to this in our January Challenge?
You are only limited by your imagination!

I still have another project to share with you, but you will have to pop back later in the month to check that out!

Until then,

Keep These Memories!

Good Morning Everyone!

I am so excited to see the interest in this months challenge! There have been so many comments about the Mood Board and how easy it is to use. Which leads me to a question for you all...What types of challenges would you love to see here at Scrapbookit? Leave us a comment, here or on our Facebook page and let us know the types of challenges you love creating.

I'm here today to share with you another take on the Mood Board that I have created.
Mood Boards are so much fun because you can use as much as you like or as little as you like to inspire your project....and it doesn't even have to be a layout! Our challenges are not restricting you to just the creation of a layout...you can create cards, canvases, art journal pieces, Off the Page projects...whatever you are so inspired to do!

Saying that...my project today is a layout :)
Here it is...

Can you see the element/s that I have been inspired by?
Well, my main inspiration came from the section of the Mood Board...the black and white drawing of flowers.
One or more of the patterned papers are purely black and white...the options for this are limitless.
I have fussy cut a fair bit of the page into flower clusters to arrange at the base of my cardstock. I have used some KaiserMist - Aqua and some Colour Blast Shimmer Dusts - Candy and Sunflower to highlight a few centres of the flowers.

I have created my background using Colour Blast Shimmer Dusts - Candy and Sunflower, Colour Blast Colour Paste - Envy, Sunshine and Fire Engine and the Kaisercraft Templates - Quarters - Dots and 12x12 Bubbles.
I have also used the Black Marble - Dylusions Spray.
I added some plain cheesecloth behind the photo.

I have used some of Amy Tangerine's - Oh Happy Life paper pad to mount my photos and to cover a tag for my journalling (which is hidden behind the photo!)
How awesome is this paper pad? Jo and Jane have also been using the same paper pad...so great to create such different layouts with the same collection. Jo has some of this in store...make sure you pop by and grab yourself some!
The collection also has some little saying squares - great for layouts and cards.

I have finished off my layout with some little flowers cut from the black and white drawing page, some butterflies and birds from Kaisercraft Decorative Dies - Birds and Butterflies, a bit of ink around the edges and some Glitter Alpha Stickers for my title.
I love how this one turned out...:)

Have you heard about the Scrapbookit Retreat??
We are holding a Retreat in Bright on the weekend of May 19-21.
We would love you to come along.
For more details click the link on this blog in the top left hand corner!

Make sure you pop by for more DT inspiration throughout the rest of the month...still so much more to come!

A New Year and a New Challenge!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
We hope that you are blessed with a happy and healthy New Year filled with lots of love and happiness!

The most recent post that I shared we had 4 sleeps until Christmas...now here we are in the new year. Time just flies...I don't know about you but I am looking forward to a positive, fun and healthy new year! With plenty of crafting time, of course!

A new year has to start with a new challenge...I hope that you enjoy what I have come up with.
Our challenge for this month is Mood Board. You can find the mood board below. You can choose any elements and as many elements from the mood board to inspire your project.

So...make sure as the New Year begins you give yourself time to get your craft on!

I have been getting crafty with the new collection, Oh Happy Life ~ Amy Tangerine, that Jo has sent me to begin the New Year!
It has lots of lovely bright, colourful pages that work perfectly with this months challenge...it is also very easy to dull the papers down or brighten them up depending what you team them with.

I have decided to feature the bright colours, the 2017, the circles and the word 'embrace' from the mood board to create my layout.
Here it is...

I started by applying a light coat of Gesso to my background paper. I have done this so that the sprays I was using wouldn't blend into the background paper.

I have used Kaisermists - Yellow and Aqua, ColourShine - Mint Green, Dylusions - Postbox Red and Colour Bloom - Cobalt sprays to create the background on the background paper. I sprayed them from quite a distance but all of them have sprayed differently which provides some variety in how the sprays appear on the page.

I have used several of the different patterned papers in this collection and have framed them with black and white card stock.

I have used the Scrap FX Template - Circle Border with a black fine liner in two places on the layout. I have used the Colour Blast Shimmer Dust - Midnight to colour some of the smaller circles in the border.

Check out that font...it was one I had in my collection...thought it was a perfect fit for the word "Cheers"

I have used the Kaiser Alpha stickers for the rest of my title. I have also used chipboard numbers that I had in my collection for the 2017. I tried to match the colourings to that on the mood board. I have finished them off with a layer of Dimensional Magic. I have used the word 'embrace' above the 2017.

Using the patterned paper scraps I have created some little... what I am going to call, Fireworks! Finally I used the Scrap FX - Circle Border and Colour Blast Colour Paste - Snow White to create a border on the right of the photo and in the top left hand corner.

Well I hope that this has delivered some inspiration for this New Year Day.
Be sure to get your entry into Jo (via email) or by linking it to the right column of this blog using the InLinkz link by the 30th January 2017.
Can't wait to see your creations.

I will be back later this month to share some more projects using this collection of papers.

Until then,
Enjoy!
