Get Outside and Explore

Happy October Everyone!

A new month, a new challenge and the start of retreat month for us here at Scrapbookit!
It has come around so quickly!

Today I'm here to share with you our new challenge.
All you need to do is create a project to the challenge requirements for your chance to win a Scrapbookit Shop voucher.
So here it is...

OCTOBER CHALLENGE...

Use the PageMaps sketch (below)

Think Nature

Add texture, stencil/template, chipboard and circles

Image may contain: text

Here is my take on the challenge...

I received one of the new Kaisercraft collections 'Mountain Air' to create with this month. This is a great collection for those of us who have photos of the great outdoors!

Image result for kaisercraft mountain air

The collection pack has some great patterned papers, a paper pad and a great sticker sheet for embellishing. There were so many options I could have used for this layout...and so many possible layouts from camping, scouting and fishing!
I decided to use some photos of my son on a Scout Hike.

I started this layout by creating my background. I used a piece of Snow White - Ultimate Crafts cardstock. I chose to use the non-textured side of the cardstock for a smoother finish.

I used my watercolours randomly around the cardstock to create what I was hoping to be the patterning that sometimes you see on the trunks of trees! I honestly think I just made a mess...but as you know...The beauty of mixed media, you can add some more and make it work!!

So I decided to use an older Kaisercraft template from the Flora Quarters 12 x 12 template that is like a tree/wood pattern....with some Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint ~ Metallique Steampunk Copper.

I then added my texture element of the challenge with some Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder ~ Vintage Photo through a Darkroom Door Stencil ~ 4.5" x 6" Circles.

To remove the stark white background I have used both Walnut Stain and Rusty Hinge ~ Tim Holtz Distress Ink. At this stage, I wasn't so sure this was what I wanted for this layout...but I soldiered on to make it work!

I thought this layout was a great one for an event like this hike...none of the photos were ones that I would necessarily use as individual photos...but they work together! I love using up some photos on one layout!

I have used the patterned papers to back the photos...I have raised the two photos of my son...so that they feature.
I have used the compass from the patterned paper and created a circular feature for the top left corner...I distressed the edges and used Colour Blast Shimmer Cube ~ Leather around the edges rather than an ink. I backed the compass with a thin border of the green pine patterned paper to complement the green of the trees and the tents in the photos.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a bracket frame shape for behind the title and also for the date tab in the bottom right-hand corner. I used Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers ~ Black for the date.

I cut a lined index card into a circle for my journaling card. I added some Colour Blast Shimmer Cube - Leather around the edge. I was a little disappointed originally because the shimmer cube left a watermark as well. However, as I inked the card with the Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink I realised that this gave the effect of the layers in a tree trunk. I love how it turned out.

I fussy cut a wood grain, tent and little pine trees from the patterned paper to embellish my layout. I also used a compass die cut from the paper pad to complement the red in my son's hike pack. I used a clear compass embellishment from an old Kaisercraft collection, Pack Your Bags. I added a word 'Adventure' from the Mountain Air sticker sheet behind one of the photos.
I added some brown cotton and some wood grain washi tape behind the Dusty Attic - Get Outside and Explore title.

Well, I hope that you have enjoyed reading the process of creating this layout and it gives you the inspiration to join in this months challenge and create a nature-themed project!

You have until the end of the month to enter our challenge...you can enter via our Facebook page @scrapbookitshop; via our blog link (in the right hand side column) or by emailing Jo joannecaird@gmail.com

Look forward to seeing your creations!!!

Love This Kid!

Hey Everyone!

Well, hasn't this been lovely...popping in to Scrapbookit everyday!!!

Today I am here to share with you the first of the layouts that I created at the Cocoa Vanilla Retreat.
It is funny actually because I used one of the first Cocoa Vanilla collections ~ from back in 2015 called Flying High!!!
I loved this collection from the moment I laid eyes on it. Soooo good for those little boy pages I create. I think I have also used it for many baby boy gifts and cards...and I did at the retreat create a quick little card using it!

Another of the challenges Zoe presented us with was a Sketch Challenge. These are always good to get you going...therefore why I started with it, I guess!

Here is the sketch...

Here is my layout Love This Kid!

I started with some Heidi Swapp Colourshine in Navy as well as a small amount of the Dylusions Spray - Postbox Red.

I have then layered papers from You Rock and Flying High to create my layout.
It is so awesome that so many of the Cocoa Vanilla papers can be mixed and matched across collections.

I also used embellishments from the Flying High Accessory Stickers, the Flair Button Badges and the Wood Veneers.

I finished off by painting the Scrap FX Wordlet phrase...'Love this Kid' with the Heidi Swapp Colourshine - Navy spray.

Only 7 sleeps until our Autumn Retreat!! How exciting!
Should be a fun weekend.

Check back in the morning for my next instalment...

So as you all know I got married last month so I have bundles and bundles of photo's to get scrapped. Here is the start of many more to come.

This month I am creating with the latest release from Cocoa Vanilla 'Bohemian Dream'. This range is so full of beautiful florals, with lots of embellishments, a new stamp set, chipboard words and stickers.  I have added some Dylusions paint on my background and have coloured my chipboard title with Colourblast shimmer watercolours.

I also have been busy making some cards, colouring with my copics. This range has lent itself to add some beautiful touches to my cards.

Together Is A Beautiful Place To Be

Hello everyone!

HAPPY EASTER!
Hope the Easter Bunny finds you all tonight and leaves you lots of yummy chocolate eggs!

I am back today to remind you about the challenge we have running for this month.
The following guidelines need to be followed:

* Use the PageMaps sketch
*Add Texture
*Add Flowers
*Add Stamping

Here is the sketch...

A great challenge for those of us who love to use more than one photo for our layouts!!

I am also back today to share with you another layout that I have created with the gorgeous
P.S. I Love You collection by Kaisercraft.
It is all about love this month!
Here is what I have come up with...

It doesn't cover many of the challenge requirements but I love using this paper collection. I was also having a play with some of my new mixed media products.
When I first mixed the colour paste for the background I had no layout in mind, I was just experimenting.
I used Modelling Paste and some Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust - Velvet. After mixing them together, I smeared it around the centre of the page.

I have added some splatters using the Kaiser Mist - Shiraz.

I have then layered and added some strips of the patterned papers and used lots of the gorgeous collectables. However, I have been quite minimalistic in my use of these.
The gorgeous lace strip is from the P.S. I Love You Sticker Sheet.
Isn't it very pretty?

I have finished with some cute little sequins that I had in my collection.

I hope that you have enjoyed looking at my layout and it has inspired you to get your craft on this weekend.
If you are after any of these products make sure you visit scrapbookit.com.au or email Joanne - joanne@scrapbookit.com.au
If Jo hasn't got what you need she is always more than happy to order them for you.

I hope that you enjoy your Easter tomorrow!

You Are Here!

Well aren't the months just going so quickly?
It is April, already and I am here today to share my first project for the month.

Tania has set our challenge this month.
To create a project...layout, canvas, card - your choice...using the PageMaps sketch, below. The second criteria for the challenge is that your project has to be about your favourite place.
Thanks Tania for a great challenge...I love it!

Here is the sketch...

Here is what I have come up with this month using some of the Simple Stories collection 'You Are Here!'

As you can see I have changed the orientation of my photo compared to the sketch but have tried to keep the other features the same. That is the thing with sketches they are always a good starting point for your projects.

This project is about one of our favourite places, Thailand. We have been there a few times but our experience with these two gorgeous boys, Arnut and Note, would have to be one of our favourites. Living with our Thai friends definitely gave us a look into life in a village in Thailand. It helped us to appreciate that the simple things in life actually do make us the happiest.

As I said before, I was very lucky to receive this gorgeous kit from Jo @Scrapbookit. I have the fun Simple Stories 'You Are Here!' collection not to mention that gorgeous Colour Blast Colour Paste Tangareen Dream that I have used behind my tags. I also love the washi tape that I have used to create my tags.

The 2Crafty chipboard title fits perfectly with the layout and the theme of my layout that true happiness is this.

Have you got your entry in for this challenge? Make sure you do for your chance to be our GDT member for June. Then you too could work with some gorgeous product and see your name and work in lights here on the Scrapbookit Blog.
To enter your project link it up to the blog using the 'Add Your Link' button in the side bar or email it to Jo so that she can add it to our gallery.

I will be back later in the month to share with you another couple of projects using this collection.
Until then keep scrapping!

New for November.

Morning everyone,

Well here we are and it's November already and before you know it the kids will be finishing school and the man in the red suit will be dropping down your chimney, (a scary thought).

Today I'm here to share our new challenge for November, I hope you love it, I know I had fun playing along.

Okay this time we have a 1. Sketch, 2. Stamping, and 3.A Song title on your project.

Here is the sketch to follow, Thanks to www.pagemaps.com.

Now here is my take on the challenge using the new Kaisercraft 'Sail Away' range just released.

For my background I have used the 'Chains Gloss' speciality paper which gives the relief image of the chains. I have used different Dylusions Paint to create the rainbow effect. A piece of Dusty Attic chipboard, a Kaisercraft tag and sticker, collectables from the range and some stamps I had in my stash. I just loved these photo's of mydaughter and her cheeky girl enjoying the sunshine.

Entries for the challenge are due in by November 30th 2015, either via email or Inlinkz on the side bar. I look forward to seeing what you create.

Well I'm sooo organized this month I have even done the winner of our October Challenge. This months winner thanks to Random.org is Ros Coutts. Congratulations Ros please send your details to joanne@scrapbookit.com and I will get your prize out to you.

My Little Daredevil

Hi Everyone,

Mel here again with another project using this months challenge sketch.

Here is the sketch again, in case you have missed it.

For this layout I have left the sketch as is.

Here is what I came up with...

Again, I have used the gorgeous Fancy Pants Designs 'Everyday Circus' paper collection.

I started with a piece of Licorice Kaisercard. I sprayed it with Heidi Swapp's Colourshine - Teal spray. I have used the patterned paper from Fancy Pants Everyday Circus collection for each part of the sketch. I used the negative of the circle cut for yesterday's layout for this layout.

I have again used the gorgeous Fancy Pants Everyday Circus Ticket Roll as an embellishment above my photo.

I have used three photos on this layout. I started with one 5x7" of Brayden out the front of The Great Moscow Circus. I then used  the same photo in a 6x4" over the top using foam tape.
I also used a photo of the circus tents and stuck it down between the other two photos.

How is your entry for the challenge going?

Can't wait to see what you have created!!!

Pop back tomorrow to check out my next little project!

New Look Design Team

Good Morning

Well here we are today to announce the new look design team for Scrapbookit. I thank everyone who sent an application in, I wish I could have you all on the team but alas my business is not quiet ready for that. So this is what we are going with for the next six months.

Please Welcome

LYNN GOOD

My name is Lynn Good and I live just outside Burnie, Tasmania with my fantastic husband & two teenage/adult boys on small acreage – although I am about to become an “empty nester” at the end of the year!   10 years ago, not long after moving to Tasmania, I was invited to a Creative Memories Scrapbooking home party. I had no idea what this involved so went to keep a friend happy. That night my friend showed me her beautiful scrapbooks and from that moment on I have been addicted and broke!
My style does change depending on the photo that I am scrapping but I do love to use paint, gesso, stencils, chipboard, bling and flowers – (thank goodness for girlfriends as this is a little hard when I have boys and nephews sometimes!!)
My inspiration can come from very small things – a new product or technique I want to try, a colour combination I see in a book, my local scrapbooking shop, other people’s blogs, pinterest or the sketch/mood board from on line challenges.  I often start with an idea but find at the end of the project the idea has only taken a portion of the page and I have gone in another direction.

Tania Ridgwell

Hi my name is Tania Ridgwell and I live in the North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide with my partner of 12 years and our beautiful 8 year old daughter Chloe.  My Paper Crafting journey started soon after she was born and she is my never ending source of  inspiration.  I am totally addicted to all things craft and love to create anything from layouts, cards and OTP Projects.

I enjoy trying new techniques and though I don't have any one specific style I would have to say the majority of my work is "feminine".  I love to incorporate a little mixed media into my work along with chipboard, blooms and bling.

I would also like to welcome back

Brenda Caldow

And staying on as Design Team Leader is
Mel Field.

I am really looking forward to working with these girls and sharing their great work that I know they will be doing.

Now for the month of October we are having a 'Sketch Challenge' from pagemaps, you can create a project from this sketch and send in your entries to joanne@scrapbookit.com.au by the 30th of October. Have fun with it and be in the running for a great prize pack.

Just a reminder that we have our Scrapbooking Retreat this month on the 24th-26th, I can always make room for more people, so if you thing you know someone who would love to join in call me on 0407058604.

Have a great month of crafting.

Jo.
