ADVENTURE & MUD

Happy Monday Everyone!!

Who can believe that it is the middle of October and more importantly that there are only 4 sleeps until our spring retreat!!!! Sooo excited to get away with like minded friends for a weekend of crafting!

Anyway, I am back today to share with you another layout for this months challenge using the Kaisercraft collection Mountain Air.
I have had a lot of fun this month creating with this collection. I love that there are a variety of options to choose in this collection. There are browns, maroons, greens, greys and blues.

For this layout I have chosen to use the blue and brown tones.
Here is what I have come up with.

Another layout of my little man getting out and about, exploring and experiencing such incredible adventures. These photos were taken at the Australian Jamboree at Cataract Park, Sydney in 2016.

I have started with a blank piece of white cardstock.
I created the background using Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Faded Jeans) and Distress Oxide Ink Pads (Iced Spruce, Old Paper and Salty Ocean). I basically swiped them down the page and then just used water to blend them.

I splattered some sprays around the page including Colour Blast - Carribean; Heidi Swapp Colour Shine - Navy as well as some Tim Holtz Distress Resist Spray.

I used a background stamp by Hero Arts - Bold Brushstroke and some brown Archival Ink to randomly stamp around the page.

I have used some of the awesome new product Nuvo - Embellishment Mousse - Cornflower Blue through a Kaisercraft Mini Designer Template - Splatter.
Oh wow...I love this new mousse...it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

I have been getting right back into using my Silhouette Cameo...for this layout I was dying to use this Adventure cut file by Simple Stories. I love how it turned out in the end.
I also cut my circular embellishments and the bracket frame with my Silhouette.

I have used some older American Crafts Thickers - Sunrise which I have inked in Distress Ink - Faded Jeans and then used Distress Powder - Vintage Photo Embossing Powder over the top.

I used a lined index card as my journalling card and have finished with some elements and phrases from the Element Sticker Sheet.
A little bit of doodling with my brown fine liner to bring it all together and it is all done.

Well, I hope that you have enjoyed seeing my latest project.
Be sure to get involved and enter your challenge project by the end of the month. Details on the right side of this blog page...who wouldn't want to win $30 to spend in store!!!!

Have a great week...and to those coming along to retreat...see you very soon!

Get Outside and Explore

Happy October Everyone!

A new month, a new challenge and the start of retreat month for us here at Scrapbookit!
It has come around so quickly!

Today I'm here to share with you our new challenge.
All you need to do is create a project to the challenge requirements for your chance to win a Scrapbookit Shop voucher.
So here it is...

OCTOBER CHALLENGE...

Use the PageMaps sketch (below)

Think Nature

Add texture, stencil/template, chipboard and circles

Image may contain: text

Here is my take on the challenge...

I received one of the new Kaisercraft collections 'Mountain Air' to create with this month. This is a great collection for those of us who have photos of the great outdoors!

Image result for kaisercraft mountain air

The collection pack has some great patterned papers, a paper pad and a great sticker sheet for embellishing. There were so many options I could have used for this layout...and so many possible layouts from camping, scouting and fishing!
I decided to use some photos of my son on a Scout Hike.

I started this layout by creating my background. I used a piece of Snow White - Ultimate Crafts cardstock. I chose to use the non-textured side of the cardstock for a smoother finish.

I used my watercolours randomly around the cardstock to create what I was hoping to be the patterning that sometimes you see on the trunks of trees! I honestly think I just made a mess...but as you know...The beauty of mixed media, you can add some more and make it work!!

So I decided to use an older Kaisercraft template from the Flora Quarters 12 x 12 template that is like a tree/wood pattern....with some Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint ~ Metallique Steampunk Copper.

I then added my texture element of the challenge with some Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder ~ Vintage Photo through a Darkroom Door Stencil ~ 4.5" x 6" Circles.

To remove the stark white background I have used both Walnut Stain and Rusty Hinge ~ Tim Holtz Distress Ink. At this stage, I wasn't so sure this was what I wanted for this layout...but I soldiered on to make it work!

I thought this layout was a great one for an event like this hike...none of the photos were ones that I would necessarily use as individual photos...but they work together! I love using up some photos on one layout!

I have used the patterned papers to back the photos...I have raised the two photos of my son...so that they feature.
I have used the compass from the patterned paper and created a circular feature for the top left corner...I distressed the edges and used Colour Blast Shimmer Cube ~ Leather around the edges rather than an ink. I backed the compass with a thin border of the green pine patterned paper to complement the green of the trees and the tents in the photos.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a bracket frame shape for behind the title and also for the date tab in the bottom right-hand corner. I used Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers ~ Black for the date.

I cut a lined index card into a circle for my journaling card. I added some Colour Blast Shimmer Cube - Leather around the edge. I was a little disappointed originally because the shimmer cube left a watermark as well. However, as I inked the card with the Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink I realised that this gave the effect of the layers in a tree trunk. I love how it turned out.

I fussy cut a wood grain, tent and little pine trees from the patterned paper to embellish my layout. I also used a compass die cut from the paper pad to complement the red in my son's hike pack. I used a clear compass embellishment from an old Kaisercraft collection, Pack Your Bags. I added a word 'Adventure' from the Mountain Air sticker sheet behind one of the photos.
I added some brown cotton and some wood grain washi tape behind the Dusty Attic - Get Outside and Explore title.

Well, I hope that you have enjoyed reading the process of creating this layout and it gives you the inspiration to join in this months challenge and create a nature-themed project!

You have until the end of the month to enter our challenge...you can enter via our Facebook page @scrapbookitshop; via our blog link (in the right hand side column) or by emailing Jo joannecaird@gmail.com

Look forward to seeing your creations!!!

Love You

Hey Everyone...Mel here!

It is time again for me to share with you a project that I have been working on for this months challenge.

I have stuck to the challenge requirements for my second project this month.

Jane has set the challenge this month...
* We need to use the mood board for inspiration

* Use a mixed media element
*Use the word LOVE somewhere on your project
*Include some fussy cutting

Here is the layout that I have come up with...

Before I go too much further...let me tell you a frustrating story!

I had planned out my layout, then I completed the mixed media background. I allowed the background to dry...for about 4 or 5 days (only because I was so busy that I didn't get back to it).
I put the layout together and was really happy with it...that was until I saw the 'missing piece of patterned paper'
Have you ever completed a layout and after everything was stuck realised you left a piece off? Well, this was me with this layout!!!!! So frustrating.
Not much I can do about it now!!!

I have used the 49 and Market 'Vintage Artistry' paper collection.
To create the background I started by using some Moulding Paste and the 6x6 Kaisercraft template 'Fern'

Once it had dried, I used some Colour Blast - Colour Mica Powder - Espresso and some Colour Blast Shimmer Cube - Leather randomly around the background.

I also used the Tim Holtz Distress Crayon - Peeled Paint and the Prima - Art Alchemy - Antique Brilliance - Red Amber paste for highlighting.

I used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain around the patterned papers.

I fussy cut all the butterflies and the floral leaves and sprigs except the one left over flower I had from the last layout which was cut using the Uniquely Creative Metal Dies Bloom Outlines.

In my little embellishment cluster I have coloured a piece of fern from the Uniquely Creative Lace with some Leather Colour Blast Shimmer cube and highlighted with the Peeled Paint Distress Crayon.

I have finished my layout with my title....love you....which I have used some Thickers - Rainboots Puffy Letters for this. I have also added some tiny word stickers from Cosmo Cricket and Heidi Swapp's Memory Planner Stickers.

I hope that you have had a chance to enter this months challenge...it is a fantastic challenge!
If you haven't entered yet....hurry...you still have time...who wouldn't want a chance to win a voucher for the Scrapbookit store???

Can't wait to see your entry!

I Love Dance!

I Love Dance.
Hello! Today I have another dance photo layout to share with you all, I have really loved using this Simple Stories Dance paper. It is SO bright and colourful and right up my alley.

I have used a piece of black Kaisercraft Cardstock to begin, I then cut out some of the words from the patterned paper, I used two different pieces of the patterned paper to go behind my photo then added some Kaisercraft Rhinestones around the perimeter of my photo.
On my striped piece of paper I have added some stencilling with a Kaisercraft stencil and have used some Colour blast Colour paste in Bling on the bottom left and top right corners. I have added a little cluster of embellishment's in the bottom left corner, the ballet shoes I have coloured with some tim holtz distress paint in pickled raspberry then a coat of glossy accents over the top, my little purple feathery dress is from JenniB Collection.
Over on the other side I have cut out a filler card from the patterned paper and added the scrap fx chippy over the top which I have painted with the same Tim Holtz distress paint and added more glossy accents over the top. I love the shiny effect this gives to the chippy.

I have finished my layout with a doodly border using my posca paint pens in pink and yellow. I love the vibrancy of these paint pen's especially on the black cardstock.
Have you entered our challenge yet? There's some great prizes to win simply by entering a layout. All of the products I have used here are available to purchase from www.scrapbookitshop.com.au
head on over to Jo's website and have a look!
It wont be long and we will be counting down the days until our Autumn retreat! That's something I am looking forward to A LOT!
Until next time Happy Scrapping

He's A Pirate

Morning Everyone,

Far out one week into November already! Time really needs to slow down!
Before we know it Christmas will come and the New Year will be upon us!!!

Today I am here to share with you my first post for the month of November.
Have you checked out the new challenge?

This month the challenge is a project with the following elements:
1. To use the sketch

2. To stamp
3. To include a song title on your project

Sound like fun?

Here is the project I have created...

For this month I have been creating with the fun Echo Park 'Pirates Life' Collection. A collection filled with bright colour and lots of fun patterns and images.

As you can see I have stuck reasonably close to the sketch. I have incorporated my stamping in the background, have included embossing and have a song title "He's A Pirate" (From Pirates of the Caribbean) as my title.

Here are some more close ups.

This one shows the 2 Crafty Harlequin Clumps which I inked with Black Archival Ink and embossed with Silver Metallic Melts. I have outlined some of the diamonds with white gel pen.

For my tag I used Tim Holtz Wild Honey Distress Ink to colour the tag. I then stamped a  Kaisercraft Journal Boxes stamp, an oldie but a goodie, for some journalling.

Materials:  Kaiser Mist - Red; Echo Park 'Pirate's Life' Collection; Kaisercard - Licorice, Red; Clear stamps - Kaisercraft Stains, Sketchy, Journal Boxes; Ink - Archival Black, Kaisercraft - Black Ink; Metallic Melts - Silver; Stampin' Up - Clear Embossing Powder; 2 Crafty Harlequin Clumps; Black Wire; Tag; Tim Holtz Wild Honey Distress Ink; Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers; White Gel pen

Well I hope that you have taken a tiny piece of inspiration from my project this month. Enough to want to get your craft on and join in our challenge!
Make sure you get your entry in by the 30th November to be in the running for a prize pack from Scrapbookit.
What is there not to love about that?

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get some time to create to your hearts desire.

Make sure you pop back in over the next few weeks to check out what other projects we have been creating this month.

Until then...happy scrapping!

AUGUST CHALLENGE REVEAL!

Good morning!

AUGUST - Wow! Where has this year gone?
Today is the first day of the last month of winter here in Australia...some of us are happy about that we can not wait for this cold weather to be over.

No matter what the weather, wherever you are, there is no reason not to participate in this months challenge here at Scrapbookit.

I am lucky enough to be the first cab off the rank this month. I know, unusual that I am ready to go but thought I would give Jo a little beginning of the month rest.

So this month we are sharing with you some of the new Kaisercraft Collections.
As you know we both went to the Kaisercraft Retailers Days. This month is the first of what we saw while we were there.

We have decided to get a little MESSY this month. Our challenge is all about M.

All you need to do is create a project that covers the following M words...

*Masculine
* Memories
* Mists

Here is what I have created...

I started with a regular piece of cardboard that I got as packaging when I purchased an appliance.
Just as we did in Jo's class at the retreat in March, I stripped back some of the card to uncover the corrugated section.
I then distress inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain.

I then used the Kaisercraft Template - Cogs and some mists to add to my background.
I used the Tim Holtz Distress Spray - Antiqued Bronze and the Colour Bloom - Antique Gold Mist.

In the bottom right hand corner of the photo I have used the Kaisercraft Tic Toc Clear Stamp. I have used some of the Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder - Vintage Photo.
I really like this embossing powder when creating masculine layouts....it leaves a really rough texture.

I have used one of the newest collections by Kaisercraft this month and for this layout. I have used some of the papers and the collectables.
It is called Time Machine!
I just love it. It is so easy to work with and I really love using it for those masculine pages.
I generally say that I am "not a green person" but I actually love the green in this range.

This collection is a MUST have in everyone's scrappy stash.

Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed my latest using the gorgeous Kaisercraft Time Machine.

Don't forget you have got to be in it to win it...
Make sure your M inspired project is uploaded or emailed to Jo before the end of the month (August 30th is the closing date).

I will be back later in the month to share some more of my Time Machine projects...until then make sure you pop back in later this week and check out the gorgeous work Jo has been creating.

Happy August 1st!
