Boys Will Be Boys

I can't begin to tell you how lucky we are to have Scrapbookit and the wonderful Jo in the scrapbooking world!

I am the luckiest of the lucky being part of the Scrapbookit Design Team and receiving amazing products each month.

I have just had so much fun working with my kit this month ~ Echo Park - That's My Boy. I love working with Echo Park papers and especially the masculine/boy themed ones.

Today I have another layout to share with you.

I have layered a variety of papers from the kit and rather than bringing out the navy I decided to use black . I just love the colours and their brightness against the black.
To lift the patterned papers and to make them stand out I used some matching colour card to create a matt behind the paper.

This photo of the '3 musketeers' I found purely by default one day whilst going through Brayden's iPad.

My journalling, which can be found on the green piece of paper with the title 'note' says...
"Now I have worked out how significant it is for me to do regular checks of Brayden's iPad, which he takes to school. If I didn't I would never have found this gem! A photo of the little fellas. Apparently it was taken for a project at school. I just love this photo...it sums the three of them up perfectly."

Here are a few more close ups...

Just remember that any products seen here are available from Scrapbookit. Head to the online store to browse and shop at your convenience. Even with a coffee in your hand! How good does that sound!

Have you heard that Scrapbookit is having a retreat?
Have you booked your spot to enjoy the fun and laughter?
If not, contact Jo and book your spot now before it is too late!
I know I can't wait until the 24th October!

Now don't forget to get creating with our mood board challenge and link yours in on the blog or email it to Jo (joanne@scrapbookit.com.au) by the end of the month.
Remember there are no right or wrong answers and that you can use as much or as little as you like but we must see evidence of something.

Looking forward to seeing all your entries...

' Echo Park Capture Life'

  Morning everyone,
Isn't it  nice to see some sunshine, but the crisp morning's are a bit hard to handle. I'm back today to share some more work I have created with this months kit 'Echo Park Capture Life'.

With this layout I have used  different stencils and sprayed with Dylusions 'Slate grey' I have added a 'ScrapFX Frame' on my photo.
I printed my journal card and used a 'sizzix' die to create my 'Today' card.  As Kaisercraft is a stockist for 'Sizzix' I am now able to stock any of there ranges, so if you are like me and are obsessed at the moment with all things die cut let me know and I can order it in.

With this layout which I created for a challenge I had some fun with gesso and 'Heidi Swapp spray mist for the background.  I raided my trinket box for lots of embellishments and the  chippie is from 'Scraptopia' , the cute little bikes are from WOW. I'm really enjoying playing with this black and white range which is available from the online store.

Now I have shared my work I am looking forward to seeing what you have created from Cindy's Mood Board, remember you just need to choose something that inspires you from the board and go with it. Entries close on the 30th of July. You can either email me a photo of your project or you can link it on the Blog.

Have a great scrapping week

That's My Boy

Welcome to this months challenge at Scrapbookit!

What an exciting challenge it is too!
Prior to working with this challenge I had never used a 'mood board' for a challenge before.
Cindy has provided us with an awesome mood board with lots of inspiration for our projects.

For this challenge you need to take your inspiration from this mood board, use a stencil and have fun.
Here is the mood board.

I was extremely excited this month to receive an Echo Park kit 'That's My Boy' from Jo.
As those of you who have followed Scrapbookit for a while will know, I just love using 'boy' papers. I don't know why but my layouts just seem to come together so easily.

This pack has such gorgeous colours and a variety of double sided papers that are great for scrapping your boys!

Initially, I have gained inspiration from the colours in the mood board.
I have used two stencils, that Jo sent in the kit, one with circles and the other with zig zags. I have used texture paste and have tinted it using Heidi Swapp Colourshine - Navy.

Here is what I have come up with...

From the mood board I have used the words, "100% Boys Life" and in the background have misted sections with the Heidi Swapp Colourshine to represent the misting on the mood board.

I have also used some Gesso and baby wipes to create the white wash in the background.
I took inspiration from the caps on the mood board to create the doodling on the matt around the photo. (Yes, by hand!)
Here is a close up...

I have used some brackets around the words '100% Boys Life' - these are brads. Really easy to use and attach and look really good too!

All of these products are available from Jo, online at the Scrapbookit store...and if she is out of stock she will organise to get it in for you.

Have you heard about our upcoming retreat?
October 24th -26th at Harrietville. For more information drop Jo an email or give her a call. Make sure you book your place to avoid disappointment.

Finally, make sure you get your entries in for this months challenge using the mood board. To enter your project email it to Jo or add your link to the Inlinkz on the right hand side.

We can't wait to see your layouts and what you come up with!
