Sail Away...

Morning all,
Well it's the weekend again and after a lovely birthday week, I'm back to share some more from the Kaisercraft 'Sail Away' range that I am creating with this month.

I have another layout using lots of chipboard from Scrap FX, New Die cuts from Kaisercraft, a Donna Downey Stencil, and a Kaisercraft stencil. I have used Distress Inks and Embossing powders to colour my chip.

I also have a couple of cards I have made with this range , one using the new Kaiser dies to create an interesting centre of your card, collectables and clear stickers all make card making so quick and easy.

Don't forget to get your entries in for this months challenge because you could be in the running for a great prize just before xmas ( and who doesn't love scrapping goodies for christmas).

We also have in stock the new Kaiser planners if you need to be organised for 2016, these are just perfect. I love mine and YES I am going to be upto date and organised next year.
Drop me an email if you would like to grab one of these fabulous planners.

Have a fantastic weekend, I hope you get to get crafty,

Jo Caird.

Another 'Secret Garden' share

Hi everyone I hope you're enjoying your weekend and have some crafty time.
I dropped in to share my last project with this month's Kaisercraft 'Secret Garden range'. The colours in this range have been so versatile that this time I have created a layout using burgundy and grey, this is another of our photo's of our trip to Canberra. I have used a Kaiser stencil and some light modeling paste on my background and sprayed with the Kaiser mist. The title is from WOW and the collectables in the range  and I have hidden my journaling on a large tag.

Well I hope you are having fun with our June challenge, I'm looking forward to seeing your Adventures Animals and Arrows. Remember entries close on the 30th of June.

Have a wonderful weekend
Jo

Adore Forever...

Happy New Year Everyone!

Welcome to my first post for 2015! I hope that everyone has had a wonderful festive season and a great start to the New Year. 2015...Wow!

As this post goes live I am on holidays with my family in Moruya just near Batemans Bay in NSW. We have spent some time in Avoca Beach, then Canberra and this is the last week or so of our summer holiday.
I love holidays. I hope you are all having a break no matter where you are and that you are staying safe. All of the fires in SA and VIC at the moment are devastating. If you are affected please know our thoughts are with you all.

This month at Scrapbookit, the beautiful Brenda has provided us with the challenge, a tic tac toe!
I love tic tac toes because you have a little bit of variety with what you can do and if you are like me you can be a little naughty and slip in a few extras from the grid!!!!

Here is the tic tac toe grid that Brenda has set up for us...what a great selection!

I have decided to use one of the diagonals...'Flowers, Journal (more than a few lines) and Stencil' as my main focus for this layout.

Here is what I came up with...

This is my gorgeous Nan who turned 85 last year. I used an app on my iPhone called 'Color Splash' to remove the background colours on this photo and just have the main focus of the photo coloured.

As always, Jo has challenged me with an awesome pack of goodies. As you all probably know girly papers and I rarely cross paths but Jo never lets me get away with sitting in my comfort zone and that is what I love most about designing for Scrapbookit...I am forever challenged!

My pack included the Bo Bunny paper collection 'Madeleine.' Such gorgeous papers that include pinks, greys, mint greens and maroons.

I started this layout with a piece of Coconut Kaisercard which I sprayed with Heidi Swapp Colourshine 'Blush'...my first deviation from the grid (whoops!). I then used the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil 'Doily' with some moulding paste in random places around the cardstock. Once dry, I swiped the raised moulding paste with Burgundy Versa Colour Ink. Here are some close ups of the stencil work.

I then used some of the patterned papers to create a patchwork effect behind the photo. Some of these squares I have raised and punched a decorative edge. All sqaures have been inked using the Kaisercraft Grey Ink.
I have mounted the photo on some patterned paper from the collection and some Kaisercard 'Steele' cardstock.
I have also fussy cut some leaves and a birdcage from the patterned paper to add to the features on this layout.

The next part of the grid that I have used is 'Flowers' I have used a mix of Manor House and Kaisercraft paper flowers to create a flower cluster on the layout.
I have also stamped some Burgundy flower stamps from my pack. Another of my deviations - stamps! Also in my pack was a word stamp 'Adore' which I also stamped in this area using the Grey Kaisercraft Ink.
I have also added some Pearl embellishment swirls from Flourish with a Bling to this cluster.

Here is a close up of the cluster...

The last feature of my layout taken from the Tic Tac Toe grid is the Journal (more than a few lines). Journalling is such an important feature of scrapbooking layouts. In years to come I want people, especially my son, to look at these layouts and to know and have access to stories and people who are part of his past.
However, being that this requirement was 'more than a few lines' I didn't want the story to be the feature of this layout. I wanted the photo to be the focus. So I decided to hide my journalling. Behind the photo I have created a pocket using some foam tape and another piece of cardstock. I cut a piece of Kaisercard 'Ballet' with a tab on the left hand side and inked the edges with Kaiscraft Grey Ink.
This is where I journalled.
On the tab I used the Bo Bunny Combo Stickers for the word 'Forever.'

Here is a close up of the journalling card behind the photo...

And to finish a shot of the layout with the journalling card pulled out.

I hope that this has inspired you to join in our challenge or to purchase some of these great products from the Scrapbookit Online Store...www.scrapbookit.com.au
If you can't find what you are looking for send an email to Jo and she will help you out. She is always more than happy to help you out with all you need to get your scrap on!!

Make sure you pop back again throughout this week to see what else I have created using this Bo Bunny collection.

Until then,
Happy Scrapping!

Dear Ol' Dad

Hi everyone it's Cindy here, thanks for joining me today.

I'd like to share with you my latest layout, "Dear Ol' Dad".
This photo is of my dad and his mates from his national service days...
I used the Kaisercraft Mix and Match papers to create this layout.

I used the Scrap FX title "Dear Ol' Dad"

To create the background texture, I used the Scrap FX Ice Shards stencil with some modelling paste.... I love the shapes created by this stencil, so many uses...
I used the printed tags and the kraft envelope for my journalling.

I used the Kaisercraft Mix & Match papers to layer behind the photo, and added some of the Kaisercraft twine for more texture...

This is my last post for Scrapbookit as my DT term has come to an end... thank you Jo for having me on your team, I've loved creating with and sharing your stores products.

Just before I sign off I have one last quick share.... I had left over paper from last month, the Pebbles Birthday Wishes Pack... and I put together some really quick and easy cards... you can create these four cards in under 5 mins., the paper does all the work for you, just what you need when you are time poor....

So thank you all for joining me here, I've had a wonderful time sharing my work with you and I have loved seeing all your creations in the challenges (which I will still be dropping by to see what you all get up to!)

Love this Child

Hi everyone, it's Cindy here, thanks for joining me today.

I have one last project to share with you this month... "Love this child"
I again used paper Jo sent in my kit from the Pebbles 12x12" paper pad...

The papers are very bright and patterned, and my photo got a little lost when I laid it on the paper.... So I white washed the paper with gesso to tone it down a little... and then sprayed it up to match my niece's coat...

I used Scrap FX chipboard for my journalling title Love scribble heart (I only used the love word) and Wild Child(in which I cut off the wild)...and coloured these up with water colour pencils...

I used the Scrap FX Daisy Flowers stencil to create the daisies on the layout to coordinate with my photo... and I added some buttons to create the flower centres...

finally, I also used the Scrap FX Chevron Spot Stamps to finish off my layout.

So my layout very loosely follows the current challenge (at a stretch, lol)... the current challenge is a Tic Tac Toe challenge... all you need to do is choose a row and incorporate those elements in your project...

so my layout very loosely follows the first column.... Teal-Journalling-Flowers...
My paper has teal print on it, I used a journalling title and stenciled my flowers...

It's your last chance to get your entry in to be in the running for a massive prize pack from Jo, so don't dilly dally, I'm looking forward to seeing your creations....

till next time

Nature's Beauty

Hi everyone, it's Cindy here with you today.
Thanks for joining me here on the Scrapbookit blog, today I'd like to share with you the latest layout I created "Nature's Beauty".

The photo was taken at a recent retreat, such a beautiful serene place.  I used papers from the Echo Park paper range "Walking on Sunshine", I used Fancy Fish along with strips from, Sailboats, Direction Arrows and Oceanfront Views.
I created this layout to play along with the current challenge, using the mood board and a stencil.  For this layout I chose the blues and oranges from the mood board to work with and I actually used two stencils, the Chevron Stencil for the background, and a little word stencil.

A close up of the background detail; showing the texture created by the Chevron Stencil, the strips of the other papers and also the thin check ribbon (Sullivans) I added (you need to look closely to see it). You can also see the Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays that I used to colour and drip on the background.

A close up of the word stencil that Jo sent in my kit, inked at the edge of the photo.

I removed the yellow and black centre from a Manor House flower and created my own blue centre with some Ribtex beads, I also used some of the cheap paper flowers to created a couple of 3d flowers .

For my title I used the Scrap FX Nature's Beauty.
I used some open circle grommets in shades of blue to further texturize the layout.  These are an older product, but give such a great look and can be so versatile, get yours from Jo while they last.

For a little extra detail I added a Scrap FX flourish Doodad G, which I had cut in half and put on the corner of my photo.

Just to refresh your memory of the details of the challenge I set this month:
1. To create your project using a stencil
(just cause I love them, lol)
 2. To take your inspiration from my mood board
3. Have fun

I hope that I have given you some more ideas on how to use this mood board, and that you will come and join in the fun and who knows maybe even win yourself a prize.

That's My Boy

Welcome to this months challenge at Scrapbookit!

What an exciting challenge it is too!
Prior to working with this challenge I had never used a 'mood board' for a challenge before.
Cindy has provided us with an awesome mood board with lots of inspiration for our projects.

For this challenge you need to take your inspiration from this mood board, use a stencil and have fun.
Here is the mood board.

I was extremely excited this month to receive an Echo Park kit 'That's My Boy' from Jo.
As those of you who have followed Scrapbookit for a while will know, I just love using 'boy' papers. I don't know why but my layouts just seem to come together so easily.

This pack has such gorgeous colours and a variety of double sided papers that are great for scrapping your boys!

Initially, I have gained inspiration from the colours in the mood board.
I have used two stencils, that Jo sent in the kit, one with circles and the other with zig zags. I have used texture paste and have tinted it using Heidi Swapp Colourshine - Navy.

Here is what I have come up with...

From the mood board I have used the words, "100% Boys Life" and in the background have misted sections with the Heidi Swapp Colourshine to represent the misting on the mood board.

I have also used some Gesso and baby wipes to create the white wash in the background.
I took inspiration from the caps on the mood board to create the doodling on the matt around the photo. (Yes, by hand!)
Here is a close up...

I have used some brackets around the words '100% Boys Life' - these are brads. Really easy to use and attach and look really good too!

All of these products are available from Jo, online at the Scrapbookit store...and if she is out of stock she will organise to get it in for you.

Have you heard about our upcoming retreat?
October 24th -26th at Harrietville. For more information drop Jo an email or give her a call. Make sure you book your place to avoid disappointment.

Finally, make sure you get your entries in for this months challenge using the mood board. To enter your project email it to Jo or add your link to the Inlinkz on the right hand side.

We can't wait to see your layouts and what you come up with!

July's Challenge

Hi everyone, it's Cindy here with you today.

Thanks for joining me here on the Scrapbookit blog, this month Jo has asked me to set the month's challenge.
I hope that you will come and join in the fun, and who knows maybe even win yourself a prize.

My Challenge for July is :

1. To create your project using a stencil (just cause I love them, lol)
2. To take your inspiration from my mood board
3. Have fun

There's plenty here in this mood board to inspire you, so it shouldn't be to hard to come up with some great layouts.

Now, here's my take on the challenge, I hope it gives you lots of ideas.
From the mood board I went for the reds and blacks and the word Relax and used these to create my layout... "Relax"

So this is a pic of my furbaby Henri, he certainly knows how to relax.  In this pic he is sprawled out on my lap while I am trying to create...
This month Jo sent me the Echo Park "Walking on Sunshine" paper pack to work with, great bright colours and patterns on one side of these papers and some fantastic simpler patterns and colours on the backs of them, these are just my style.... for this layout I used "Beach Stripe" which had this gorgeous red on the back...

Also in my pack this month this cute little wood word which I painted black to create my title.
In this pic you can see how I have used the Darkroom Door French Script stamp to randomly stamp my background.

Here you can see I embellished the page with some Kaisercraft flowers that I sprayed and layered up and a large Manor House flower which I removed the centre from to use as a base.

A close up of my stenciling work.... I used the Scrap FX Wood Grain Stencil. Here I used it sideways to imitate Henri's striped legs and face.... I used modeling paste and sprays to imitate Henri's coat colours.

Doesn't Henri look so relaxed and content.

Well I hope you all enjoy this challenge and I can't wait to see all your takes on the mood board.  Don't forget that Jo has all these great products at the Scrapbookit Store.

Amazing and Wild

Hi everyone, it's Cindy  here with you today, thanks for joining me.

It's my 2nd turn here on the Scrapbookit blog this month and I'd like to share with you the layouts I created.

This layout was inspired by Brenda's challenge, "scrap a photo of a friend", but I didn't follow the full challenge criteria this time...
The photo is of a friend of mine at a recent retreat.
I had lots of fun playing with some cheap water colour paints, on the coordinations cardstock (sequoia)...

Once I had that layer down I used the Scrap FX Whirlpools Stencil,  to create some detail along with the Scrap FX Hash Stamps...

and then some final background detail with the Darkroom Door French Script stamp.

I used the Kaisercraft Mister Fox collection of papers and collection pack to create the layered pieces for the layout...

Next up I'd like to share with you a layout I created "Wild"....
this month I had some papers left from the pack that Jo sent me... so I got to creating...

I took this photo at a recent retreat, this gorgeous tawny frog mouth owl, came and visited us each evening... happily posing for photos...
the layout was created using the Mister Fox collection from Kaisercraft.

I created this sensational texture using the Scrap FX Palm Frond Stencil.  I really love this stencil.

I used the Mister Fox collection papers (distinguished, heroic, powerful, fearless and strong) and the collections pack.
Don't you just love his eyes.... so mesmerizing...

For my title I used the Scrap FX chipboard "Wild Child" and cut off the 'child' I will keep that in my stash for something in the future.... the layout was coloured with distress inks and Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays.

I hope you've been playing along for your chance to win a great prize pack from Jo... You still have a little time to get your entries in.... check out the full challenge details here.
