Christmas ~ Merry and Bright

Morning Everyone!

Who can believe it is only 5 days until Christmas Day?? I know I can't!
I hope that you are all prepared and ready for the big day.

It is so much fun ticking off some Christmas layouts...
thanks, Jane for the great challenge!
Whilst I haven't followed the challenge rules for this post I still have used the gorgeous Simple Stories Christmas Collection, 'Classic Christmas'

Here is the layout that I have created...

I started with a piece of white cardstock and using my Faber Castell Gelatos I have created some varying sized circles in green, red and gold. I used some water and a paint brush to blend the colour.

The gold circles (which doesn't show in the photo) have also got some gold Colour Blast Shimmer Cube colour on them to make them shimmer!
I have also used the shimmer cube for the tiny flecks of gold around the background.

Other than that my layout is reasonably simple...some layered patterned papers as well as some sticker embellishments from the Simple Stories 'Classic Christmas' collection.

I finished with the boy's names and the date using my date stamp!

I have also created another layout using this collection.
It has been a while since I have used a piece of Kraft cardstock for my background but I have enjoyed revitalising my love of Kraft!!

Surprisingly (not!) I haven't been able to leave the background and I have added some paint.
I love these paints, they leave such a gorgeous look on your projects. They are the Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint in Metallique Rusty Red and Metallique Steampunk Copper!
I have also used the Gold Colour Blast Shimmer Cubes to create some little star shapes. I outlined these with a brown Stampin' Write Marker. I have also used some Gold Kindy Glitz in the centre of the stars.

Another simple layout making use of paper layers and stickers to embellish.
How gorgeous are the little bits of foil gold on the patterned paper?
This collection is truly divine!

Well, I just wanted to finish up by saying a huge thank you to Jo for her generosity, friendship and belief in me again this year. Jo is so very generous and a true inspiration to those of us on the design team. So thank you Jo...I hope that I have done the kits, collections and products justice.

I also want to thank Jane. It is so much fun having someone to create with. Your projects are gorgeous and you inspire me everyday!

Finally, thank you to everyone that continually supports us here at Scrapbookit...popping in and checking out our blog posts, entering our challenges and supporting the shop...we truly appreciate all of your support!

I hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas and a very successful 2019!

Good morning...welcome back to Scrapbookit's Christmas Challenge month!

I'm still pinching myself trying to work out where this year has gone...it is so crazy!

I'm just loving our challenge this month...I have so many great Christmas photos. It's always a nice feeling to scrap Christmas layouts...lots of great moments and memories.

Jane has set us a fantastic challenge this month for Christmas.

Criteria for the challenge is as follows:
*Create a Christmas layout
*Use the name of a Christmas Carol somewhere on the page
*Use some fabric OR tissue paper on the page
*Use white cardstock as the background
*Include a star, Christmas tree and a bauble on the page

It is a great challenge, thanks Jane!
Here is my layout...

I have used the gorgeous Simple Stories Classic Christmas collection. This is such a gorgeous collection. It has two cardstock sticker sheets, 12x12 papers and lots of different journalling card elements.

I started with a white piece of cardstock, some Colour Blast Colour Paste in Bling and the Kaisercraft Fading Dots 12 x 12 Designer Template. The template has larger dots at the bottom, however, I didn't want anything too large so kept to the finer dots in the background by just using the top section of the template.

I knew from the beginning that I was going to us the Christmas Carol "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" ~ I love this carol and it was perfect for my photo. It was also one of the journaling cards in the collection. I combined a couple of smaller journaling cards for the other side of the photo!
The baubles are gorgeous...unfortunately the photo doesn't quite highlight the beautiful gold stars and detail on the baubles.

I have used some black tissue paper in the background behind the patterned papers and have trimmed the papers with a gold paper to tie in the gold highlights in the patterned paper and the Colour Blast paste.
I also used some Uniquely Creative Washi Tape under the photo.
Whilst I had a rather large title with my Christmas Carol title...I just used the matching stickers from the Simple Stories collection to highlight the year.

My little Christmas tree is also a sticker from the Simple Stories collection. I have added a star from the Cocoa Vanilla - You Rock Wood Veneers which I have painted with the Colour Blast Colour Paste in Bling.

Well, I have loved creating this layout. This Simple Stories collection is gorgeous, so easy to use and so many different ways to use it.

I hope that you are going to join us this month for our Christmas Challenge.
Be sure to get your entries in by the 30th.

Happy Preparing for Christmas!

Wishes

Good Morning,

As the sun tries to come out this morning after some very wet days for the first week of our school holidays, I'm here to share my take on this month's challenge that Mel has set for us.

This month the DT are all using the same paper range Prima 'Sweet Peppermint' from the 12x12 paper pad.
Although we are all doing the same challenge it's wonderful to see the different way we interperet it.
I have had this photo of my grandaughters for a couple of years and thought this was the perfect range to scrap them.

So I have followed the sketch (well I hope you can see that :) ) and of course it's christmas themed. For my letter C elements I have used chipboard for my title from WOW and hinges and I also have used a new product to the store from Creative Expessions, 'Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder' Ancient Copper. This is a dry Mica powder that I have added  to area's that I have sprayed with water. It gives a great shimmer but also a marble effect.

I have used the Prima art alchemy acrylic paint 'Royal Red' to create my circle and paint all my chipboard, I have also added lots of the Metallic Gilding wax 'Vintage Berry to my page.

I hope you get inspired to get some of those christmas photos scrapped this month, our challenge ends on July 30th and you could receive a great prize pack just for sharing your passion.
You can email your entry to joanne@scrapbookit.com.au, add it to our Inlinkz tab on the side bar or you can even add it to our Facebook page.

For those that are on holidays enjoy, until next time
Happy Scrapping

Christmas Is Almost Here!

I know, I know, I know!
I shouldn't mention Christmas...
It is currently a swear word in our house.
But there comes a time when we just have to get ourselves sorted and today I'll give you a plan to start.

But before that...
We had an absolute blast at the recent Scrapbookit Retreat. We laughed, ate yummy food and treats, scrapbooked, laughed and laughed...
A truly fantastic weekend...and this wouldn't have been the case if our amazing Jo hadn't of put in so much time planning, preparing, packing up the shop and reassembling the shop. We truly are very grateful, Jo, thank you so much for a great weekend. Can't wait to do it all again!

I am just here for a brief post today to share with you the class that I ran at the retreat.
Christmas Cards and Tags

Here is a look at what I created for the class...

I have used the gorgeous Kasiercraft Paper Pad 'Frosted' to create these cards and tags. I also used LOTS of the gorgeous Colour Blast products, they truly are so much fun to play with!

So here's the plan, if you love the look of these cards why not grab the Christmas Cards and Tags pack (including instructions) from Scrapbookit to get creating your own. Be sure to contact Jo (joanne@scrapbookit.com.au) today before they are all gone!

That is all for me this morning...happy weekend!

Christmas Project

Hi everyone, it's Cindy here again to share with you another project, this time around a tiled front page for those Chrissy Albums

I created the tiles using chipboard covered in the Silver & Gold Bo Bunny Christmas range and for the base of the layout I used Co-ordinations Core Color Cardstocks and another of the papers from the gorgeous Silver & Gold Bo Bunny Christmas range.

Of course you can get all of these great papers from Jo

I created the title using the Scrap FX title Spirit of  Christmas, and covered/coloured this with the  sparkle n soft shining emerald, to give it a velvety sparkle finish. I used the sparkly thickers for the remainder of the title.

The flowers are carefully separated Green Tara flowers, as there were only two green flowers in the pack, it's a great way to make them spread further and also to get different sizes for your projects. I brushed a small amount of Gold Glitzin Glamour glitter glue onto the flowers for a bit of sparkle.

I created the rosettes using this gorgeous gathered gold metallic ribbon that Jo stocks.... great for creating rosette flowers, so quick and easily... teamed the ribbon up with some scraps of lace for the centres with a gold pearl brad.... and to create the rosette, I added a gold double ended tassel...

I hope you are all working on your December challenge projects, (you can find full details of the challenge here) I can't wait to see what you come up with...

I would like to wish you and your families a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year.

Till next time
Happy Crafting

December Challenge

Hi it's Cindy here with you today to share with you my take on the December Page Challenge set by our guest designer, Amanda Francis (if you want to learn more about Amanda and the December Challenge click here

So here is what I came up with for the Challenge

So I made plenty of use with the spray portion of the challenge, using the Dylusion sprays, in postbox red and pure sunshine, continually layering up the colours until I got the look and depth I was happy with.
I sprayed the Dylusions over my background created on Kaiser cardstock with the Scrap FX Petal Pattern Stencil  Impasto and Gesso (the paint part of the challenge)...

I painted the Scrap FX Christmas title red and the applied Sparkle n Soft (cherry sparkle), the photo doesn't do it justice... it doesn't show the texture and hints of glitter very well... it looks fantastic in real life....

I made use of the two red flowers that came in the Green Tara pack Jo sent me.... I carefully pulled the flowers apart so that I had six flowers from the two... I used some red Kaiser paint to touch up the glue marks on the middle of the petals... then I used the dots from the DIY thickers pack as flower centers, I covered these with the Gold Glitzin Glamour glitter glue.... I also spread a little of the Glitzin Glamour onto the Flourish with a Bling Flourish, to give it a little bit of sparkle....

Well, I hope you've enjoyed my take on the challenge, and remember you can get all the products I have used from Scrapbookit...

You have until December 30th to email Jo at  joanne@scrapbookit.com.au with your challenge entry, I look forward to seeing your take on the challenge....

till next time
Happy Creating

New Challenge/Welcome our GDT member

Good Morning and welcome to December,
Yes only 24 sleeps until the jolly man comes calling and we all get to eat more than we should and spend precious time with our families.

December is the start of the introduction of our Guest design team members and I would like to welcome from W.A.

Amanda Francis

My name is Amanda and I live in Perth, Western Australia. My first scrapbook project was my sisters 16th birthday party and 11 years later I now mostly do mini books and mixed media type projects. I love working with lots of different themes from steampunk to shabby chic vintage and I'm also a lover of bright colours. Paper hoarding seems to be my other hobby and I do love my Graphic 45 collection but I'm also a big believer in recycling and will quite happily use Anything in a project!!

I am honoured to have been chosen as Decembers guest design team member at scrapbookit.com.au I was asked to come up with a challenge for the month and after some thought I decided to combine the two things I like the most, Paint and Spray!

Joanne sent me some awesome paper and embellishments from Ruby Rock it Christmas collection to work with and this is what I came up with. I started with my layout, and took a piece of the craft card stock, a stencil, some paint and a baby wipe and started to smudge some paint around. Since the theme was christmas I chose red and gold sprays to add to the background then set about layering the paper.

I don’t do a lot of layouts but I really like the way this one came out. I actually did two layouts, but I like this one the best.

My second project for the team was a set of tags using some of the cut out pieces and chipboard embellishments from the paper collection. This time I used a piece of red card stock and cut it down to “tag size” before going in with the paint and sprays.

Thanks Amanda for sharing some christmas ideas, and thanks for joining in for the month of december. If you would like to see more of Amanda's work drop by her blog http://evangelinemarie.wordpress.com

Entries into the December challenge are due by December 30 please email a photo to joanne@scrapbookit.com.au so I can put them up in the gallery.

Have a scrappy day
Jo
