So Special!

Welcome to Scrapbookit!

I'm here today with you to share my next project for this month.

Have you seen the challenge that I have set this month???

It is such a fun challenge and I would really love it if you could play along.

All you need to do is:
1. Use the Page Maps sketch (see below)

Include each of the following Grab 5 requirements in your project.
1. A mixed media product
2. Stickers
3. Embellishments - flowers, stars, hearts...
4. Fibre - cotton/thread/ribbon/twine...
5. A household item to create texture - bubble wrap, dishwashing sponge, napkins.

You can enter your project on our Facebook page, via the Inlinkz link here on the blog or email to Jo at joannecaird@gmail.com
Entries close July 30!

Here is another project from me this month using the gorgeous Welcome to Spring by Simple Stories paper collection!
A very special layout of my gorgeous Aunty (who is no longer with us) meeting my baby boy!
It has taken some time to find the right paper collection to use however I think this collection is just perfect!

Whilst I haven't followed the sketch I have used some of the Grab 5 requirements.

1. A mixed media product ✅
2. Stickers ✅
3. Embellishments - flowers, stars, hearts... ✅
4. Fibre - cotton/thread/ribbon/twine...
5. A household item to create texture - bubble wrap, dishwashing sponge, napkins.

I started by using some Finnabair Art Alchemy Metallic Paint in Light Patina and Vintage Rose in the background randomly to add some colour to the patterned paper. I then added some of the patterned papers from the Simple Stories collection, Welcome to Spring.

I have created a little embellishment feature using stickers from the Welcome to Spring collection as well as a gorgeous flower, I love how this cluster embellishment has come together.

I have used some stickers from the collection and have also used the title "So Special" using some of Cocoa Vanilla's previous alpha stickers from the collection 'Free Spirit.'

Again on this layout, I have used a lot of little stickers around my layout. That is the best thing about receiving collection packs, the stickers are generally amazing!!

I really love how this layout came together and ended up!!

I have also created a quick little card using this collection...

Well, I hope there is something here that inspires you to get crafty today!

Look forward to seeing what you create and share/enter with us this month.

Happy Scrapping!

Mel

Adventure.

Hello!
I have recently enjoyed a beautiful three week holiday in sunny QLD, I took a lot of my craft supplies with me and enjoyed some quiet time working in my art journal which was SO relaxing. Do you take your craft supplies away with you? I would love to hear.
Mel has set such a great challenge this month, I had a lot of fun working on this layout.
This is my layout.

To begin my layout I applied a coat of Gesso on my page with a mesh bag that you use to store onions in, this was part of my household item to create texture I also used some bubble wrap which I lightly applied some of the Dylusions Postbox red onto the page, I then used Dylusions paint in squeezed orange through a The Dusty Attic stencil, I made some marks with the Dylusions cut grass and splattered some mustard watercolour paint over the top. To finish  my background I used some Colour Blast paste in Steel and a stencil.
I have used the Simple Stories Travel Notes paper range to complete my layout, I cut out various strips of paper from the patterned paper and added some strips of ribbon in there as well!
I added lots of different stickers from the sticker sheet and my title was cut out from one of the patterned sheets as well.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on this Kaisercraft die which I have added to the side of the left hand side photo and also another one behind the title. I love the look of these they are awesome!
So for Mel's Grab 5 I have used:
Dylusions Paints
Colour Blast Paste
Ribbons
Mesh onion bag
Bubble wrap
Gesso
Stickers from the Sticker sheet
Stars and hearts which were also from the sticker sheet.

It was so good to see so many entries last month in our challenge and a big congratulations to Heather for winning the challenge her layout was amazing!
All of the products I have used today are available to purchase from www.scrapbookitshop.com.au
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

I AM!!

Good Morning everyone,

Welcome to Scrapbookit and our July challenge.
This month I am creating with a great range from 'Simple Stories' named 'I AM'.
It is just beautiful with lots of florals and a touch of rose gold throughout the papers and stickers in the range.

Here is my take on the challenge that Mel has set for July.

For my splattered back ground I have used some Prima 'Color Bloom' sprays.I have used  the subtle pink and yellow and then added some silver Distress stain spray as well. My household item used was some scrunched up cling wrap to move the sprays around on the page a little.

For my stripes behind my photos I have used all the edge strips from the patterned papers ( You know the bits you usually cut off and throw away :) ) , I just thought it was a great way of getting lots of colours and patterns onto my layout.

I have added some heart stickers, die cut hearts from some Kaisercraft Sparkle paper, some fine thread and my title is a WOW chipboard piece which I also coloured with the Distress Stain spray.

I hope you get a chance to join us this month, I know lots of our kids are on holidays so its a busy time but make sure you take some 'ME' time and get crafting. Entries don't close until the 30th July so you have lots of time to get scrapping.

Remember you can add them from your blog into our Inlinkz tab, send them to me via email joannecaird@gmail.com.au or upload them to our Facebook page anytime.

Enjoy the rest of your week,

Jo Hanna.

I want...

Good Morning,

Can you hear that? Yes the silence of no children as they are back at school and my time is mine again for a few hours a day.

This is the last post for the month and I'm sharing another page from our 'Sweet Peppermint' Prima range that the team have been creating with this month.

Even though it is Traditionally a christmas range the B sides of the papers can be used with any theme.

As you can see I got a little messy with my background on vanilla cardstock, using the artalchemy acrylic paint 'royal red' then using a kaisercraft mini stencil I layered with Colourblaste paste 'Apple of my eye'. Adding some chevrons from a 'Darkroom Door' stamp. The diecut's are from Kaisercraft and my title is from ScrapFX. The stickers are from the Prima paper pad.
So have some fun and get messy.

How are you going with this months challenge?? It's a great opportunity to get some of those christmas photo's scrapped, remember you have until the 30th to upload your entry.

Just a quick reminder that we are holding our 'Spring Retreat' from sept 29 - oct 1st 2017, so if you would love a weekend break away with like minded crafters a deposit of $75 is due now to save your seat.  All inquiries call Jo on 0407058604.

Jane is back on the 1st August with another fantastic challenge so make sure you keep visiting to join in.

Happy Scrapping,
Jo.

Jo has this paper pad available for sale www.scrapbookit.com.au, along with all of the other products that I have used on my Layout!

For my Layout I have layered some of the patterned paper and added some of the sticker sheet embellishments. My silver string balls are from Kaisercraft as well as the Beautiful Memory die-cut down the bottom of the page..

My title "We wish you a Merry Xmas" is also from the sticker sheet...

To finish off my Layout I have added some doodling around the border as well as some Xmas coloured brads and then some splatters and a few sprays of the Colour Blast colour spray in Love as well as adding some stamping with a few little Christmas stamps from my stash.

Wishes

Good Morning,

As the sun tries to come out this morning after some very wet days for the first week of our school holidays, I'm here to share my take on this month's challenge that Mel has set for us.

This month the DT are all using the same paper range Prima 'Sweet Peppermint' from the 12x12 paper pad.
Although we are all doing the same challenge it's wonderful to see the different way we interperet it.
I have had this photo of my grandaughters for a couple of years and thought this was the perfect range to scrap them.

So I have followed the sketch (well I hope you can see that :) ) and of course it's christmas themed. For my letter C elements I have used chipboard for my title from WOW and hinges and I also have used a new product to the store from Creative Expessions, 'Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder' Ancient Copper. This is a dry Mica powder that I have added  to area's that I have sprayed with water. It gives a great shimmer but also a marble effect.

I have used the Prima art alchemy acrylic paint 'Royal Red' to create my circle and paint all my chipboard, I have also added lots of the Metallic Gilding wax 'Vintage Berry to my page.

I hope you get inspired to get some of those christmas photos scrapped this month, our challenge ends on July 30th and you could receive a great prize pack just for sharing your passion.
You can email your entry to joanne@scrapbookit.com.au, add it to our Inlinkz tab on the side bar or you can even add it to our Facebook page.

For those that are on holidays enjoy, until next time
Happy Scrapping

Sea Breeze in July

Morning Everone,

How chilly are you this morning? I know it's winter but I have had enough rain, wind and snow for now. I guess the bonus is that it is perfect weather to stay indoors and keep busy crafting.

Today I am here to share my take on the July challenge using the 'Couture Creations' range 'Sea Breeze'.  Earlier in the year my kids were lucky enough to get a surf lesson at Apollo Bay, so I thought these photos were just perfect for these papers.

I have done lots of fussy cutting from one piece of the paper range,
added some thread (instead of ribbon) and some beads (instead of buttons)
I have added some stamped images and my texture background is by using the new Colour Crush Powders 'Basil' from Tinby Designs mixed with Gel Medium. I have used a Kaisercraft stencil which I thought fitted the wave theme.
I hope you get a chance to play along with this great challenge this month, entries are due by July 30th.

Also due at the end of July are the deposits for our Scrapbookit Spring Retreat that is being held on October 7th-9th at the High Country Inn Bright. This will be a fantastic weekend filled with crafting, laughter and friendship. Don't miss out all details are at Scrapbookit Online Store.

Happy Scrapping

Welcome to July

Welcome to July everyone,
Well a new month and a new Challenge by our Guest Design Team Member
Judy Willey.

Judy has a great sketch challenge this month with the added criteria of fussy cutting, and either or all of the following additions
*stamping
*buttons
*ribbon.

 Hi,

my name is Judy and I am delighted to have been asked to guest design for SCRAPBOOKIT. I enjoy working with both textiles and paper and have been scrapbooking for about 10 years.   I live in a regional city in beautiful north Queensland with my husband, a keen sailor. We have 7 beautiful grandchildren who are the inspiration for much of my scrapbooking. Our nautical adventures are also a great source of inspiration
Jo has sent me some absolutely beautiful goodies to work with and I have had so much fun creating my layout and a card.

Judy has used the 'Australiana' range from Ultimate Crafts which includes papers and postcards, also some acetate stickers from Kaisercfraft.

Here is a beautiful card Judy created adding a Green Tara flower as a centre piece.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful projects Judy, you  can enter into this great challenge by creating your own project and adding it to the Inlinkz in the side bar or send me your entry at joanne@scrapbookit.com.au

Entries close July 30th.

Have a wonderful week and we will be back to share some more inspiration with you soon.

Jo

July Challenge

Good morning everyone,
Well here we are in July, sorry I'm a day late. With school holidays, wintery weather, playing taxi driver to teenagers and a bit of socialising it has been hectic the last couple of days to say the least.
But I'm here on this rainy old day to share our new challenge for the month of July. Staying with our three criteria theme, this month is all about
  • Having FUN
  • Frames
  • Flairs (buttons not the jeans)
With the new releases from Cocoa Vanilla we just had to create with these wonderful products this month and here are two layouts I have done.

Lots of great embellishments, flowers and flairs in this range 'Hello lovely' to create with which are all available @ www.scrapbookit.com.au. I had lots of FUN colouring the background of my 1st layout and I'm sure Brittany will have lots of FUN driving when I can get over the nerves of sitting along side her.

Entries for this challenge are due July 30th, I hope you will have fun playing along. Mel and I are off to Geelong next week for our annual 'Retailers Day' at Kaisercraft to find lots of new things to share. Until then enjoy the school holidays if you have the children at home.

Happy Scrapping

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.....Blast Off - Again!!

Hi Everyone,
Mel here again for my second post for July...aren't the months just flying by??

Well, I have been busy playing with my kit from Scrapbookit this month and I must say I have had HEAPS of fun with this paper collection.....Blast Off! from Kaisercraft.

Today, I have a few things to share with you. So grab a cuppa it might take a while!!!

The first is another layout following the recipe that Ruby has set for this months challenge. Have you emailed your entry in to Joanne? You only have till the end of the month!
The recipe is...
5 - Buttons
4 - Circles
3 - Ribbons
2 - Paint colours
1 - Photo

Here is my layout using the Blast Off! Paper Collection...

Now for my second project...
I tried to think outside the square a little and create something that is useful.
So I came with a canvas calendar...here is a shot of the completed project...

Thought I would step you through the process of making this cute little canvas calendar so that you might feel a little inspired to make one for those little monsters in your life.

Step One:
Create your canvas background.
I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to swipe over the canvas. I was a little impatient with the drying process so I used a heat gun to move it along....just make sure you don't hold your heat gun too close and burn holes in your canvas...I came very close several times!!

Step Two:
Choose your background patterned paper and adhere.
I used Mod Podge to adhere my paper to the canvas. I also then use this as a sealer...great if your project is going to be on display and collect dust particles...easy to wipe over with a damp cloth.
Hint #1: Distress Ink and Mod Podge don't go well together. The Mod Podge appears to move the ink around. It will change the colour of your brush. Be careful when you are applying Mod Podge over your paper. However, this could be a great effect too!

Hint #2: In the photo below, the paper may look a little bubbled or wrinkled. Don't be too put off by this...be sure to adhere and then let it settle. You will notice that it will all calm down and flatten out over about 24 hours.

Step Three:
The next background layer...Texture Paste.
To create another layer I have used the Kaisercraft 'Bubbles' 12x12 mask and some texture paste.

Once these were dry I painted them using three different paint colours.

Step Four:
Create your layout.
Essentially the base is like creating your own layout...just minus the photos (although photos would be good too!)
You will need to decide what elements you would like to include.
I included...some die cut stickers, some collectables and a cute little chipboard word from WOW.
You will also need to decide how to incorporate the calendar.
I have decided to make it so that the day, date and month were interchangeable.
I created a space for these elements to be attached...see below.

Step Five:
Create your the day, date and month labels.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to create the letters for the day, date and month and adhered them to strips of paper. You could use any sort of die cutting machine, adhesive alpha letters or even print them on your computer.

Step Six:
Protect your project!
Projects like this usually get handled regularly. We would be disappointed if they weren't used for what they were made for however, we would like them to last as long as possible...especially with those little monsters fingers!
I protected the canvas, paper and all of the die cut stickers in the background with Mod Podge. All of the strips for displaying the calendar, the calendar pieces and the collectables have been laminated for further protection.

And there you go a cute little calendar for all of those cute little monsters in your life!

Well, I hope you have enjoyed today's post and I have inspired you with something a little different.

A few reminders:
* Pop on over to Scrapbookit (instore or online) to grab all the bits and pieces to create these projects.
* Be sure to get your entries for the challenge in by the end of the month...and the kids challenge too!
* Have you registered for our October Retreat? It is sure to be a super weekend!

Enjoy your week and happy scrapping...
Mel xx
